Released in 1994, the Australian series Hartley, Raw Hearts celebrated an entire generation. Three decades later, a modernized version is seeing the light of day on Netflix. A new cast reflects this reboot, but the most nostalgic can be soothed: As with the original, the series deals with social issues dear to young adults.
Consisting of 8 episodes, this Hartley, Raw Heart 2022 is very similar to more modern programs like Sex Education or Euphoria. What do subscribers think about this modernization? Let’s go back to some reactions.
Just watch #heartache high And absolutely loved it. Especially how realistic the portrayal of autistic youth was. Because there is so much stigma and we need more people like this @chloeshayden represents autistic women.

“I just watched Hartley, Hearts Alive and absolutely loved it. Especially the realistic way in which autistic youngsters are portrayed. There is still too much discrimination around this topic and we need more people like Chloe Hayden to represent women with autism.”
they saw #Hartley on @NetflixFR reload! A (spoiler-free) successful Season 1 full of easter eggs featuring extraordinary teenage travails. Special mention to the diiingue and cameos on the soundtrack! Cheers to the sequel! #heartache high #HartleyCoeurAVif pic.twitter.com/GL33jZ1tX8

#heartache high It was so healing to watch! Finally, a good autistic performance by someone who is autistic is very encouraging and he did it well! Thank you very much @chloeshayden You have done such an amazing job. Seeing scenes that show what my life is like was perfect ❤️

“Watching this series was very relaxing. And finally, has a good representation of autism, because a person who is really autistic is very new, and he does it perfectly. Thank you so much Chloe Hayden!“
Watch the pilot episode #heartache high. It feels familiar. Like an Australian sex education cheat. The characters feel almost identical. It has something original that I have yet to figure out. Maybe I’ll keep watching.

“I watched the first episode of Hartley, Hearts in the Raw. It smells like deja vu. As an Australian parody of sex education. The characters are almost identical. There’s a weird little thing I haven’t figured out yet. Maybe I’ll keep watching.”
#heartache high:
Nothing like the original (far from perfect, especially brutal film) which tried to inject some social realism and news issues between 2 procrastinating ‘teenagers’. Another teen soap with no originality (basically Generation mixed with Sex Ed). pic.twitter.com/IIJqOF5P1l— TL; PV (@troplongpasvu) September 14, 2022
I found myself looking #heartache high Back to work and this is the fastest I’ve ever seen a show end…. The story, the atmosphere, the soundtrack just hit all the right levels, it’s a real euphoria, sex education and generation + ion unity. 🔥 pic.twitter.com/mqtvzadVm9

“I stare at Hartley, my heart racing. I’ve never seen a series so quickly after it ended. The story, atmosphere and soundtrack are as they should be. It’s euphoria, sex education and Genera+ion mixed into one series.”
That’s it #heartache high It’s really good. Among other things, an amazing queer performance and a fantastic satire of terrible high school sex education.

“Hartley, raw heart is good. Among other things, it’s a wonderfully quirky portrait and a fantastic satire of terrible high school sex education..”
