A Netflix series about Jeffrey Dahmer is imminent. For Ryan Murphy’s new production, the platform chose an unusual strategy: to publish the first images 5 days before the release. Dahmer the Monster: The Story of Jeffrey Dahmer goes back, as the title suggests, to the horrific crimes committed by the man between 1978 and 1991.
Evan Peters – Ryan Murphy’s favorite actor – plays the cannibal killer. The rather impressive first trailer promises a sequence of great darkness and the most anxiety-inducing atmosphere. It highlights the criminal’s relationship with his neighbor, Glenda Cleveland, played by Nessie Nash. It was he who called the authorities, who reported the screams and unbearable smell coming from the other apartment.
The series, consisting of 10 episodes, traces the life of the killer over several decades, from his difficult childhood to his conviction in 1992. But as with all Ryan Murphy productions, the story is also about things done, like the kind of privilege Jeffrey Dahmer enjoyed. Despite the crime, the police never bothered him.
In this unique case, the government also bears a share of responsibility. Jeffrey Dahmer, responsible for 17 crimes, only attacked homosexuals or representatives of ethnic minorities. Victims who were therefore not interested in the police.
Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, September 21 on Netflix.
