A more beautiful life: Laetitia Belesta teacher? Carolyn Ryu confides in this amazing new plot

Last week on More Beautiful Life, students at Scotto High School were surprised to learn that their history-geo teacher was missing. Rochat then had the idea to call a replacement the least surprising, Laetitia Belesta, who will arrive at the facility this Monday, September 19.

The character portrayed by Caroline Ryu has been a cleaning lady at Mirta and Luna’s hotel since arriving in Mistral in 2014. How did he become a teacher at Scotto High School? We caught up with the actor to find out more.

Alocine: In this Monday night’s episode, your character, Leticia Belesta, becomes a teacher at Scotto High School. This career development is very surprising. How did he get there?

Caroline Rew : If you remember the story of Laetitia, four years ago, she passed her baccalaureate with her son. So far, the writers have left this story aside, and we haven’t even talked about this year, when he worked hard to get his diploma. Leticia stayed in Celeste as a maid.

I find it interesting that at the end of Plus belle la vie they change the story. Laetitia is a woman who never had the chance to continue her studies and who, after 20 years, decided to retake her bachelor’s degree to climb the social ladder. Therefore, the authors imagined that for several months, even years, he completed his history-geography degree by correspondence.

The conspiracy is also directly related to the emergency plan that Macron developed this summer, where people who have not trained to be teachers can apply to become temporary workers. So he finds himself replacing his former history/geo teacher and therefore entering high school tonight.

Will his arrival at high school go well?

When he arrived, Laetitia wanted him to perform well. I think he is stressed like many young teachers and reading his charts a lot. He sweats a lot before coming to class. However, he will manage to integrate and establish himself, but before that he will have to face stubborn students who will test him a lot.

What was your reaction when you heard that Leticia was going to become a teacher?

It was the producer of the series who called me to tell me about my new story. And when he told me that Laetitia was going to be a teacher, I was very surprised and I couldn’t understand how the screenwriters were going to justify it.

When we receive texts, we do not have complete plots. So we don’t necessarily have a full story evolution. I was trying to get information to understand the essence of this conspiracy.

It’s the end of Plus belle la vie, I’ve been in the team for 8 years. I think it’s great that my character, after graduating from The Bachelor, can be promoted as a woman. She lost her husband, she is still with her son, and I can see that she is taking a nice revenge on life here. This is great character development.

Of course, the series is winding down, so we won’t have a chance to develop that story, but it opens up a field of possibilities. With this plot, we can probably give hope to people who want to change their lives, whether by going back to school or not. This is a powerful message that will surely resonate with many people.

Laetitia is a woman who takes care of herself, and even though Valentine has a billionaire, she needs to be independent, exist, and above all, fulfill herself. Even if he sometimes has to fight and it’s hard, he prefers that to everything being served on a silver platter.

Last May, we learned that Plus belle la vie was going to bow out after 18 years on the air. What was your reaction when you found out about the end of the series? And how do you imagine the future?

Maybe I got this news wrong. But, at the same time, this is a series that was born 18 years ago. It opened many doors. So it’s not nice to hear such news, but I tell myself that such a streak is not meant to be endless.

Everyone who is on Plus belle la vie as a recurring character is incredibly lucky to be able to work on a very regular basis. As Anna Decis said (starring Luna Torres, Editor’s Note), we will pick up our pilgrim’s staff and go and knock on doors.

I think once you have experience at Plus belle la vie, you can do anything. We shot so fast, there are so many requests, I think we can be placed anywhere.

What is also painful is that we must mourn our character. I know few people who have had the chance to work on a series so regularly. However, when you’re 20 and have your life ahead of you, you know you’ll go back. On the other hand, when you are a little over 40, you will have to fight to get ahead.

If there was an actor or actresses you’d like to work with again before Plus belle la vie ends, who would it be?

Plus belle la vie will end with a prime chorale. We will be very numerous and very mixed. So I will be able to do a lot of other actors. I also had the chance, with this new plot, to respond to partners I had never worked with before.

For example, in the past I had only shot once or twice with Charles Schneider, who plays Claude Rochat. We had many scenes together with this story. I was also able to work with young people. I was also very nervous playing with them because I didn’t know how it would turn out.

When you think about it, I’ve been in a sort of routine for years: it’s always my son Kevin, it’s Celeste, etc… and then, all of a sudden, I have a lot more partners because I have Scotto’s students. but also other high school teachers. When the shooting started, I arrived on the set with my stomach bulging, like when it’s the first day of school. So I’m very happy about that. I would not be disappointed.
