It is the event of the French television season. TF1 tonight launches Les Combattantes, its new big-budget historical mini-series directed by Alexandre Laurent and produced by Iris Boucher, collaborating again after the phenomenal success of Le Bazar de la Charité three years ago on the same channel.
Audiences can expect to find Audrey Floro, Julie de Bona and Camille Lou, the stars of Le Bazaar, portraying new characters here, joined by Sofia Esaide, who plays the shock quartet of Les Combattantes heroines. His own way with the horrors of the First World War.
The four actors who met in the promotion of this new event series introduced their characters: Margarita, a prostitute who hides several secrets; Agnes, the superior of the nunnery, who will gradually question her faith; Susan, a runaway nurse who assumes someone else’s identity; and Caroline, a middle-class woman who has no choice but to take over the factory from her husband who has gone to the front.
According to Sofia Esaide, who plays Caroline DeWitt, the eight episodes of Les Combattantes, soon to be available on Netflix (which co-finances the series), promise to be full of secrets and twists: “It takes us from one story to another, from one mystery to another, from one mystery to another, and we never get bored”.
