A Better Life Ahead: Recap for Tuesday, September 20, 2022 episode [SPOILERS]

Livia continues to manipulate Celine in her sleep. He makes it so that she wakes up and follows his instructions without ever seeing him. As Celine stands up, he reminds her that she has to take care of Vincent Chaumet and make herself pretty for him. So Celine tries on several outfits, not suspecting that Livia is guiding her in her choices. He arranges for her to wear a dress that Vincent gave her and play on her nostalgia. Prepared, Celine goes to Vincent. The latter recognizes the dress she is wearing, touching it, that she has kept it. Celine then calls out the need for rest. She’s been staying in Capri for a deluxe seminar that just got canceled and offers to accompany him. Vincent is clearly tempted, but is troubled by the memory of Celine threatening suicide at Bar Mistral…

Meanwhile, Jean-Paul confirms to Revel that the fugitives are approaching Marseilles to settle scores there. Leo intervenes and confirms that Livia is already in Mistral. He gives Jean-Paul a list of all the people who have dealt with the serial killer in the past. However, Revel categorically refuses to join Leo in the police force due to problems related to indiscipline.

After leaving the police station, Leo sees Revel in a bad state as he faces Eugene’s questions. He intervenes in the conversation to restore the image of the police regarding Livia’s investigation. He especially confides that he knows his modus operandi by heart and that he will definitely catch it. Thus, the prosecutor is forced to announce to the press that Leo has been hired as backup counsel.

Leo takes off his old policeman’s leather jacket. Claire still worries about the risks she will take. Leo admits to her that he also needs to protect Agatha. Claire supports him, hoping he won’t hide anything from her about his intentions.

On the other hand, returning home in the evening, Vincent noticed that someone had broken into his apartment. In his room, he finds Celine lying on his bed in the sheets and invites him to join her…

When he learns that Mistral’s bar is open when Leo and Claire are off duty in the morning, Killian fears the worst and rushes to the location. There he discovers that Roland has returned from the United States. Deciding to stay in Marseille, he settled in a studio above the bar.

Roland spends time with Killian and Baptiste, telling them anecdotes about his adventures in the bayou with François. He says he wanted to go back to Marseille when he heard Killian was taking over the bar permanently. The latter wants to show that he knows how to do this, but Roland cannot correct the way he uses the coffee machine.

Later, Roland serves drinks to Lola and Sunale. He notes that something is missing from his cafe creme. Killian then shows his father his personal touch for this type of drink: a foam heart on top.

After that, Thomas also goes to the bar to see his father. He suspects that Killian will have a hard time running the facility if Roland is constantly monitoring his actions.

When Kevin arrives at the police station, he finds that Alexandra is already there and has taken over the place by decorating her office with personal items. Kevin is then amused and surprised to observe Alexandra tending to the Tamagotchi.

Kevin and Alexandra walk the neighborhood together and meet Baptiste. He invites his best friend to lunch. So Kevin suggests his listeners join the police department later. Once they are alone, Baptiste teases Kevin about Alexandra. But the young policeman claims that he is no longer interested in girls.

In turn, Alexandra approaches Ariane to find out Jean-Paul’s tastes so she can give him a present and make herself look good. When Ariane accuses her of cheating, Alexandra replies that she genuinely wants to put all the odds in her favor for her future career in the police force. He really wants to participate in the commissar competition. But Ariane flatly opposes it, and then advises Kevin to be careful with it.

Instead, Kevin tries to comfort Alexandra. The latter explains that he did not follow the wrong path and remains goal-oriented no matter what happens. He says that his calling arose quite early: when he was bullied at school, he wanted to protect the weakest. Kevin is surprised by this revelation, given his confidence.
