Actor Nicholas Galitzine, who played Prince Charming in Amazon Prime Video’s musical adaptation of “Cinderella”, will play a version of Harry Styles in the fanfic-based film “The Idea of You.” The story was written by Robinne Lee in 2017, picturing herself as the singer’s girlfriend at the time of One Direction.
The plot follows Solène Marchand, an art dealer who is reluctant to take her daughter to meet her favorite boy band. But her divorced mother had no idea that she would soon have a love affair with one of her group members, 19 years her junior. Gradually, a series of clandestine encounters rapidly evolves into a passionate and genuine relationship.
The lead role is played by Anne Hathaway, who will also produce the adaptation in collaboration with the writer of the book. By the way, the actress is 12 years older than Galitzine in real life.
The screenplay is written by Jennifer Westfeldt (“Singles with Kids”) and directed by Michael Showalter (“Eyes of Tammy Faye”), with shooting scheduled for October.
As a curiosity, it’s worth pointing out that the fanfic has materialized in a way, considering the love story between Harry Styles and actress-director Olivia Wilde, who is 10 years older than the singer.
Another detail: Galitzine can sing and before becoming a successful actor, he posted videos of himself playing hits on the guitar. His most recent film was Netflix’s patriotic novel “Continence with Love”, and he is also in the cast of the LGBTQIA + novel “Red, White and Blue Blood” in development for Prime Video.
