The new series of Star Wars Andor, based on the film Rogue One, premieres on the Disney+ platform this Wednesday, September 21. We also know that a second season has already been ordered, which series creator Tony Gilroy has confirmed once again.
The British screenwriter, who also directed the filming of the film Rogue One, revealed that the filming of the second part (the series is divided into two seasons with twelve episodes) has not yet started. Therefore, according to him, it is impossible to consider broadcasting next year for the second season of the program:
I still have two years of work ahead of me. We will start filming the second part in November. We originally planned to shoot over two years, but… we’re going to shoot from November to August, knowing that our post-production took a year last time.
So a simple calculation allows us to assume that Andor season 2 won’t air on Disney+ until the summer of 2024… at best! It doesn’t matter, because by now the platform will have many Star Wars productions, including the third season of The Mandalorian (airing in spring 2023) or a TV series centered on Ahsoka Tano.
A prequel to Rogue One, itself a prequel to George Lucas’ original trilogy, Star Wars Endor Series can be seen every week exclusively on Disney+ starting this Wednesday, September 21st!
