In two separate episodes of the fourth season, Terry is seen swallowing pills. Other elements in Season 5 reinforced the impression that Terry Silver was indeed dying. First, the surprise encounter in the hospital elevator when Johnny takes Carmen to her ultrasound appointment. The reasons for Karatikos’ stay in the hospital are also rather vague.
Silver’s quest to nurture a “new generation” of karateka may also be a way to ensure his legacy in light of his impending death.
