“Jurassic World: Dominion” hit $ 1 billion worldwide this Friday (9/23), after four months in theaters – and even though it has been in digital stores for two months.
Universal’s dinosaur movie was only the second release of 2022 to hit the mark, right after “Top Gun: Maverick”. Among the productions shown after the pandemic, last year’s “Spider-Man: No Return Home” also achieved the feat.
The conclusion of the Jurassic franchise brings together the stars of the current trilogy (Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard and young Isabella Sermon) with the original stars of “Jurassic Park” (Sam Neill, Jeff Goldblum and Laura Dern), as well as introducing new actors to show what happens after the dinosaurs are released in the midst of contemporary civilization – situation at the end of the previous film, “Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom”.
Despite this, “Jurassic World: Dominion” was the lowest-grossing film of the current trilogy. “Jurassic World” (2015) earned $ 1.6 billion and “Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom” (2018) earned $ 1.3 billion worldwide.
Adding this performance to the receipts of the “Jurassic Park” trilogy (1993-2001), the six films crossed the $ 6 billion mark at the worldwide box office.
Check out below how much each film earned in the Jurassic universe.
“Jurassic Park” (1993) – $ 1.09 billion
“The Lost World: Jurassic Park” (1997) – $ 618.6 million
“Jurassic Park III” (2001) – $ 368.7 million
“Jurassic World” (2015) – $ 1.67 billion
“Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom” (2018) – $ 1.31 billion
“Jurassic World: Dominion” (2022) – $ 1 billion
