Actress Storm Reid, who plays Zendaya’s sister in “Euphoria”, will play the lead role in “The Nun 2”, the 2018 horror sequel that is part of the “Conjuring” universe.
The first “The Nun” was a spin-off of “The Conjuring 2” and featured Bonnie Aarons as a demonic nun. Set in a monastery in 1952, the film follows a priest and a young nun, played by Demian Bichir and Taissa Farmiga, as they try to fight the nun’s evil possessions. Surprisingly, the release became the highest grossing of the “Conjuring” films.
Michael Chaves will direct the sequel, after debuting with “The Curse of La Llorona” and “The Conjuring 3: The Devil’s Order”, the latest production in this horror universe.
Details are being kept under wraps, but the new story is expected to play out in the 1950s as well, proving that the nun was not defeated as some believed.
Aside from the plot, Reid’s role was also not revealed.
Production remains in the hands of James Wan, director of the first two “The Conjuring”, and the screenplay was written by Akela Cooper (“Evil”) and revised by Ian Goldberg and Richard Naing (both of “Fear the Walking Dead”). . .
Filming is set for October and the release is set for September 2023.
