The Rings of Power on Prime Video: Episode 5 recap, where Elrond has a lot to do with potatoes

We press “play” and we go for an hour in the company of the disillusioned heroes of the rings of power.

Piveluses are still in full migration. Nori takes advantage of the break to enrich her foreign language vocabulary, muttering key words she pronounces like a child learning a foreign language. It will give us full sentences in two episodes.

The Brandyfoot family hits the road again with Poppy, and we find that they are far behind the Pivelous. But in Pop’s beautiful song, we see them traveling tens or even hundreds of kilometers, crossing all kinds of terrain, sometimes strewn with traps. And we tell ourselves that there are really long journeys only while singing.

At the site of the meteorite crash that brought the unknown, three sinister characters, hooded and dressed in white, appear to be investigating CSI-style, the identities of which we still don’t know. Or was it Gandalf? What would this Sauron be? The theories are going well, but we’re guessing we won’t have an answer right away.

But who is this disturbing character?

Among the orcs, Adar stands out as a good candidate for the title of psychopath. His pale face resting in the sun, he asks one of his soldiers to expose his arm to him. burns it. Aadhaar asks what she feels. Well, it’s wrong! without surprise. He tells him to rally his troops because the time has come. Putting Biafin on the burn? Stop being a sadist. (I bet not)

In the Watchtower, Bronwyn improvises a warrior and tries to raise an army. He begins a short speech and vows to fight against the enemy, namely Adari and his orcs. He raised his hands, but without much conviction. All it takes is one contrary word from the infamous Waldreg – urging everyone to submit to the enemy, not fight – to change the situation. Weather strips! He even tries to turn Theo against his mother, Bagger.

We prepare for war in Númenor. Isildur also wants to contribute. He asks his father, Elendil, who directly opposes him. Isildur doesn’t belong to the Sea Watch, she doesn’t belong to any trade, and she doesn’t live by the values she was raised with. And Elendil turns her back on him. The boy is very sad.

Some of the people of Númenor are not ready for battle. At least he didn’t follow the elf and the man out of the Su landsd. Chancellor Farazon is strongly opposed by the disgruntled mob, but he gets his way. Airien sees nothing good in this either and asks Kamen to bring his father, the chancellor, to his senses.

Meanwhile, Halbrand shows off his blacksmithing skills. But there is no time to appear, he is summoned by the Queen Regent, Miriel. He is in a council of war with Galadriel and Pharazon. She calls him Lord Halbrand and relies on him to go to battle because Galadriel supports her. Except it’s not motivated at all. Alone with Galadriel, he scolds her for putting a crown on her head that she doesn’t want. (This war will not be easy)

Among the Piveluses, at last, Brandifoot joined the others. All these little people are crossing a disturbing forest. Concerns confirmed: Nori notices huge wolf tracks. He barely has time to warn Malva with Poppy that three wolves start chasing them. One of them is about to bite Nori, but the stranger stops him. With a sharp blow to the ground with his arm, he throws the fleeing ugly creatures. But his arm immediately snaps as if this energy expenditure consumes him.

In Numenor, Elendil trains his men in battle, but Galadriel is not at all confident in their abilities. He will then offer to take it. And whoever manages to touch it will be promoted to lieutenant. As in the previous episode, Valandil is first. But it is matriculated by Galadriel. He dispenses his advice as he strikes. They go into it in twos, threes, then fours or fives. He pushes them all. Valandil manages to touch him and gets promoted. For the first time we see Galadriel surprised.

In turn, Kemen tries to dissuade his father Chancellor Farazon from going to war. He goes so far as to accuse her of obeying an elf. Farazon’s underrated pawn who reveals his plan. Helping the men of the southern lands would allow him to enrich Númenor by trading with them. In short, his plan is the Marshall Plan.

Miriel visits her father, the king. When she tells him to go to Middle-earth and return to the elves, he advises her not to go there because she will find darkness there, she says against a brass background, emphasizing the danger.

Again in the forest. To heal his gangrenous arm, the stranger dipped his hand into the water while reciting a sort of spell. He is in a trance, Nori observes the phenomenon. He sees the water turn to ice and reaches for the stranger’s arm. He makes the mistake of putting his hand on her arm, which also becomes a prisoner of ice. He is panicking. Stranger ends his shamans work with a bang. Nori is thrown a few feet away, but her arm is intact. Like killing a stranger. But he is afraid and runs away.

At Lyndon, Durin receives High King Gil-galad at what appears to be a gala dinner. They are supposed to celebrate their union, but the mood is tense to say the least. After dinner, Gil-galad passes the reading to Elrond. Did the dwarves find a precious ore? Elrond responds by swearing his friend to secrecy. Gil-galad then shows him that the white tree is losing its light, a sign that the forces of evil will soon destroy all people. And leaves him alone with his conscience.

Gil-galad calmly puts the weight of the world on Elrond

In Númenor, Isildur tries to convince her friends Valandil and Ontamo to recommend her to join the expedition. Valandil is strong. this is not.

Cæmen decides to sabotage one of the boats by setting it on fire, but is confronted by Isildur, who has decided to become one. Two men are fighting. The boat catches fire and then explodes, but Isildur manages to save Caemen to the surprise of her father Elendil.

Galadriel is disappointed. Miriel is suspicious and Farazon takes the opportunity to propose a deadline for a military operation. Miriel decides to call a council the next morning, which will decide.

Lyndon. Elrond is in the corner. Celebrimbor confides in him that he knows about the mithril. The High King also ordered Elrond to say nothing. But now he must break his promise to Durin, because obtaining the mithril is the elves’ only hope to regain the light they are losing.

Galadriel goes to Halbrand to convince him to vote for the council the next day. He confides in a past he’s not too proud of, afraid to return to his lands as Galadriel’s imagined liberator. His confession is overlaid with images of Tirharadh villagers surrendering to the Adar and orcs.

Galadriel, in turn, confesses her pain over the loss of her brother, her thirst for revenge, and her exiled status. Rejected by the High King and Elrond, they could no longer distinguish him from the evils he fights.

Led by the villagers of Tirharadh, Valdreg compares the oath to loyalty and calls him Sauron. Calling Adar out of anger, he then puts him to a test: he must sacrifice a young man.

Theo gets to know Arondir, his possible future father-in-law, a little better. He shows her the evil sword. Arondir recognizes the object and discovers a statue in the watchtower rock: the same sword, complete, impaling a poor man. He then explains to Bronwyn that he was created by the enemy’s ancient magic to enslave men.

He also explains to her that the orcs know Theo has the sword and that they will be coming to get it soon. Bronwyn is ready to give herself up to save his life, but they have an idea at the last minute. It would be time for the orcs to move in the direction of the watchtower.

In Lyndon, Elrond empties the bag with Durin and confesses to him that he was sent by Gil-galad to find the mithril. First of all, he tells her that the survival of the elves depends on him and that their fate is in his hands. Only listening to his heart, Durin agrees to help his friend and convince his father, King Durin, to obtain the mithril to save the elves.

In Númenor, Halbrand accepted his fate. She goes to Middle-earth in armor, just like Miriel or Isildur. Well, Isildur is on a mission, but her father is cleaning the stables for her. This is where Galadriel comes into play in her Joan of Arc armor. Epic music, wind in your hair and slightly slow camera movement. And all the soldiers are beaming.

The remaining three boats set sail and head for Middle Earth. Generic.
