The first images of “Onimusha”, an adaptation of Capcom’s samurai game, reveal the most impactful production of the package. The reason for the excitement is due to those responsible for the adaptation: none other than the bloodthirsty director Takashii Miike (“13 Assassins”, “The Sword of the Immortal”) and the director of the anime Shinya Sugai (“Dragon’s Dogma”) . Additionally, the central character, Miyamoto Musashi, is based on the legendary actor Toshiro Mifune, star of Akira Kurosawa’s greatest samurai films, such as “The Seven Samurai” and “Yojimbo”.
Released between 2001 and 2019, the “Onimusha” games are set in the Sengoku era, but add supernatural elements to the adventures. The anime version doesn’t have a release date yet.
