In Dahmer: Monster – The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, creators Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan revisit the Milwaukee Cannibal case. Over the course of 13 years, from 1978 to 1991, serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer killed and dismembered 17 people. In the skin of a criminal, actor Evan Peters delivers an impressive performance.
In its episodes, the Netflix series looks back on Jeffrey Dahmer’s past and his many methods of sneaking into his victims’ apartments. In the very first chapter, the killer tries to act with Tracy Edwards. A few minutes later, the same man managed to escape to alert the police.
In one terrifying scenario, Jeffrey Dahmer offers her to watch the movie “The Exorcist III”. This detail, as crazy as it is, is true to reality. The director was obsessed with the feature film released in 1990 – a year before the events.
During questioning during his 1991 arrest, Jeffrey Dahmer revealed to a detective that he watched The Exorcist two to three times a week for six months. He would also force his victim to watch with him.
In episode 2, Jeffrey Dahmer’s character wears yellow contact lenses.
The Milwaukee Cannibal explains that it was inspired by one of the characters called The Gemini Killer. One of the most striking scenes in The Exorcist 3 features this antagonist, played by Brad Dourif, detailing how he cuts his victims. In her deposition, survivor Tracy Edwards explains that her assailant was in a trance-like state while watching the movie.
Jeffrey Dahmer’s other obsession focused on a much different classic, Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi. The assassin had a special interest in Emperor Palpatine, whose yellow eyes he envied.
His psychosis even led him to buy contact lenses of this color to look like the characters he admired. Jeffrey Dahmer explained wearing these lenses in bars when he met men.
