Globoplay has begun casting “Veronika”, a new detective series that tends to be confused, due to the title, with “Good Morning, Veronica”. But the main characters are quite different.
Veronika is a black attorney living in a favela involved in organized crime. The title character’s interpreter has not yet been announced, but Marcelo Serrado (airing on “Cara and Coragem”) will play a policeman and Malvino Salvador (“Any Gato Vira-Lata”) will play a prosecutor.
Additionally, Marcello Melo Jr will appear as Mikhael, his character in another Globoplay series, “Arcanjo Renegado”.
The two series share the same creator, José Júnior (of AfroReggae), who is building, series after series, a shared universe in streaming.
Marcelo Serrado, among other things, recently participated in another series of this “universe”, “O Jogo que Mudou a História”, still without a preview date.
The recordings of “Veronika” will begin in January at Morro de São Carlos, in the center of Rio, with the general direction of Vera Egypt (“Todxs Nós”) and the actor Silvio Guindane (“O Dono do Lar”), who became thus the first black director of a Globoplay drama series.
Director Heitor Dhalia, who also participates in “Arcanjo Renegado”, is part of the production team.
