The Witcher on Netflix: Dates for Season 3 and spin-off Blood Origin

2023 will be full of The Witcher. Indeed, Netflix held a Tudum event last Saturday, during which the streamer announced the dates for the Blood Origin spin-off, which is expected on December 25, and the 3 seasons, which are slated for summer 2023.

To recall, fans reconnected with The Witcher, played by Henry Cavill, almost a year ago with Season 2 launching in December 2021. Since then, the series has spawned several spin-offs. Along with a limited Blood Origin miniseries, an animated film is in the works, and The Witcher (yes, yes, family) family series is in the works.

Little has been leaked about The Witcher season 3, but it will certainly continue the story of Geralt de Rive, Ciri (Freya Allan) and Yennefer (Anna Chalotra). New faces expected: Robbie Amell, Menger Zhang, Hugh Skinner and Christel Alvin.

Robbie Amell plays an elven warrior named Gallatin who leads an army of Scoiatael guerillas fighting on behalf of Nilfgaard. Menger Zhang is Milwa, a human taken in by the Dryads of Brokylon Forest, she is a fierce and skilled hunter. Hugh Skinner plays Prince Radovid, playboy and younger brother of King Vizimir (Ed Birch). Christel Alvin is Mistle, a member of the Rats, a group of teenage misfits who steal from the rich.

Set in the world of elves 1,200 years before the events of The Witcher, the Blood Origin prequel series tells a story lost in time, including the creation of the first prototype witch and the events leading up to the decisive joining of the realms, when the worlds of monsters, humans and elves merged into one.

The excellent Michelle Yeoh will star as Scian, the last remaining member of a nomadic tribe of elves on a mission to retrieve a sword stolen from his people. There will also be Sophia Brown as Ailey, a warrior in the Queen’s Guard who leaves everything behind to become a traveling musician; and Laurence O’Fuarain as Fial, a man born into a warrior clan who swore to protect the king and seeks revenge in return.

The rest of the cast includes Mirren Mackie as Mervyn; Lenny as Henry Balor; Jacob Collins as Eredin; Lizzie Annis as Zachary; Huh Novel as Callan in “Death of a Brother”; Francesca Mills as Meldorf; Amy Murray as Fenric; Nathaniel Curtis as Brian; Zach White as Cindril; and Dylan Moran as Uthrok One-Nut.
