The HBO Max series “The Last of Us”, which adapts the hit video game, has finally gotten its first teaser trailer. The production starring Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey has been highly anticipated, especially by fans of the PlayStation-exclusive game.
After some previews that briefly showed small snippets of the series, now finally HBO Max has released an official teaser that shows a lot more than we have seen so far.
The nearly two-minute teaser is accompanied by the song “Alone and Forsaken” by Hank Williams, and the first images already attract the attention that horror fans have been waiting for in the series.
Like the games, the series follows Joel, who will be played by Pedro Pascal, and Ellie, played by Bella Ramsey, as a couple traveling through apocalyptic America, where a pandemic has killed millions. All this with scary monsters lurking.
“The Last of Us” game director Neil Druckmann is co-writer, executive producer and director of the HBO Max series, and works alongside executive producer and co-writer Craig Mazin, best known for his work on The Last of Us “Chernobyl”, HBO miniseries.

The hashtag “TLOUDay”, included in Druckmann’s tweet, stands for “The Last of Us Day”, and was promoted by HBO Max this Monday (26). The date is not accidental and in the game it is known as Outbreak Day and symbolizes the day the virus of this world spreads, which is September 26, 2013 in the game. To celebrate it, the teaser has been released.
Filming on “The Last of Us” wrapped in November 2021 in Canada. In addition to Pedro Pascal, the series also has a cast that includes Gabriel Luna as Tommy, Nick Offerman as Bill, Merle Dandridge as Marlene, Murray Bartlett as Frank, Nico Parker as Sarah, Lamar Johnson as Henry, among others.
In addition to the characters already known from the games, the series has created others, such as Marlon (Graham Greene) and Florence (Elaine Miles), described as “a couple who survive alone in the post-apocalyptic wasteland of Wyoming”.
The Last of Us series will arrive on HBO Max in 2023.
