Mechanic Resurrection 3: Will Jason Statham return to wreak havoc on the bad guy?

“Mechanics: Resurrection” airs tonight on TFX. The action film by Jason Statham is a sequel to the 2011 film The Gunslinger. Is there a plan to make a third film?

In 2011, Jason Statham played the role of Arthur Bishop, already played by Charles Bronson in 1972, in Simon West’s The Gunslinger. The British actor plays a contract killer who specializes in impossible contracts. The action film earned $76 million at the international box office.

Five years later, a sequel titled Mechanic: Resurrection was released in our darkrooms. Directed by Dennis Gansel, this film sees a hitman come out of retirement and find his girlfriend (Jessica Alba) kidnapped by one of his former enemies. The feature film collected 125 million GEL internationally, which is almost twice as much as the first opus.

Is it planned to continue?

Despite the good results of the second opus at the box office and director Dennis Gansel’s desire to start a franchise, the studio never announced a third part of the adventures of Arthur Bishop.

Mechanic: Resurrection was released in cinemas 7 years ago and since then Jason Statham has been doing action movies: Fast & Furious saga and its spin-off Hobbs & Shaw, Troubled Waters or An Angry Man and Operation Fortune from Guy Ritchie.

Therefore, a third film with the participation of Arthur Bishop is unlikely, especially since the actor’s schedule is already full. Statham will indeed soon appear in The Expendables 4, Hobbs and Shaw’s sequel alongside Dwayne Johnson, meet the new Megalodon in Troubled Waters 2, and is due to follow up on the action-comedy Spy sequel.
