Actress Pam Grier, icon of blaxpoitation cinema and star of the film “Jackie Brown” (1997), will star in the second season of the series “They” (Them), developed for the Amazon Prime Video streaming service.
Entitled “Them: The Scare” in English, the new season will tell a different story, with new characters. Set in 1991, the plot will follow detective Dawn Reeve, who needs to investigate a horrific murder. But as she approaches the truth, something evil takes hold of her and her family.
The detective will be played by Deborah Ayorinde, who also starred in the first season of “Them”, but who will play a different character here. Grier will play Athena, the mother of the protagonist, described as an intelligent and proud character, but full of secrets.
The cast also includes Luke James (“The Chi”) as up-and-coming and sensitive actor Joshua J. Williams (“Cloak and Dagger”) as Reeve’s son Jeremy Bobb (“The Outsider”) as a corrupt detective and Wayne Knight (“12 Mighty Orphans”) as the protagonist’s supervisor.
In addition to them, the series will also feature appearances by Carlito Olivero (“Step Up: High Water”), Charles Brice (“Above”) and Iman Shumpert (“The Chi”),
“They” was created by Little Marvin, who will also write the second season and serve as the attraction’s producer and showrunner. There is no premiere date yet.
Pam Grier has other projects on the way, such as the sequel to “Cursed Cemetery” and the thriller “Cinnamon”, both of which have already been shot, but still have no release date.
