“I wanted to put society on a rollercoaster.” Meeting with Palme d’Or Director, Sans Filtre, Ruben Ostlund. Be careful, it will shake! The film hits theaters this Wednesday.
Warning, violent movie! After winning the Palme d’Or at the 2017 Square, Ruben Östlund signs No Filter, a feature film that lives up to its name (Triangle of Sadness VO) and which opens in theaters this Wednesday. Sans Filtre awarded him the second Palme d’Or, awarded by the jury chaired by Vincent Lyndon.
The Swedish filmmaker pushes the cynicism cursor even further than his previous film in the feature film Three Chapters. The central chapter, very provocative (sometimes with false airs of Grande Bouffe!), should not have provoked a reaction from the crowd!
The pitch goes like this: After fashion week, Karl and Yaya, a couple of models and influencers, are invited on a luxury yacht cruise. Although the crew takes great care of the vacationers, the captain refuses to leave the cabin when the famous gala dinner approaches. Events take an unexpected turn and the balance of power shifts when a storm hits and threatens the comfort of the passengers.
Influencers, Provocation and Vomit: No Filter promises to shake up the public that will discover it in theaters today, Wednesday, September 28, as we already saw at the presentation of the film in Cannes.
On the second day of the film’s presentation in Cannes, we met director Ruben Östlund. In particular, the filmmaker spoke to us about his relationship with the public and critics, about his concern to write while constantly considering the potential reactions of the public. “I want the audience to feel like they’re on a roller coaster and send them on this adventure. That was my goal.”
