Is the new “funnier version” of ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ worth it being re-released in theaters?
‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ returns to the billboard almost a year after its premierewith an extended montage that includes 13 minutes of scenes and additional images that promise a “more fun version” of the Marvel film that brought together the 3 Spider-Man seen on the big screen: Tom Holland, Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire.
The third installment of Holland’s trilogy on the spider man entered the top 10 of the highest grossing films in history with more than 1,900 million dollars raisedbut Marvel/Sony still don’t have enough and they’re going for 2,000 (one of the reasons behind the rerun rush).
But, Is this new version of ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ worth it? What differences have you added compared to the original, apart from a new post-credits scene? These are the main extended/revealed scenes in the new version of the Marvel movie, which to begin with already has an important change in its new poster showing the 3 spideys together.
Damage Control asks Peter about ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’
In the first extended scene of the new cut, Damage Control Agent Cleary questions Peter Parker about the incidents that occurred on a ferry and at the Washington Monument in the first film of the trilogy, ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’. Peter does his best to explain what happened and that he had no intention of causing harm or putting anyone in danger.
In addition, the interrogation of Aunt May is also more extensive. May complains about her detention, calling for fairer treatment and stating that It’s not the first time she’s been arrested.
Cameo by Tom Holland’s brother Harry
Although footage of Tom Holland’s brother Harry Holland was leaked during the filming of ‘No Way Home’, his appearance in the original montage was ruled out. The new montage brings back Harry Holland’s cameo as a street thief who is stopped by Spider-Man. When a passerby mischievously suggests that the superhero and the thief might be in cahoots, Tom claims he doesn’t know his brother at all.
Peter Parker’s first day of school after the revelation of his identity
Several things are added about Peter’s return to school with everyone knowing that he is Spider-Man. Tabloid host J. Jonah Jameson reports the news for the Daily Bugle making sure everyone knows the youngster is starting a new term that day.
There’s also new footage with Spidey being pressured in gym class by students and teacher to climb the wall, and Flash Thompson signing books as MJ and Peter escape to the school’s rooftop.
One of the longest sequences of the new show comes with Betty Brant interviews for high school television. Betty interviews several teachers, the Flash (who claims to have given his name to Spider-Man) and his ex-partner Ned, whom she questions for texting late at night. Finally, she manages to exclusively interview Peter Parker himself, asking him what would he say to the radioactive spider that bit him if he had a chance to talk to her. He replies that she would appreciate it for giving him those powers..
The Daily Bugle reports the arrival of the villains of the multiverse
After Spider-Man confronts Electro and the Sandman, Jameson has an electrical worker call his show to give a first-hand account of the fight, with Spider-Man destroying the power lines. The electrician mentions that he fought a dirty guy and someone with electrical powers. While that’s a pretty accurate description of the Sandman and Electro, Jameson doesn’t believe the witness and asks if he’s been drinking.
New scene with Matt Murdock / Daredevil
Happy Hogan is questioned by Damage Control about the technology stolen from Stark Industries, and Happy hires Matt Murdock (aka Daredevil, as you all know) to be his lawyer.. Although the encounter is brief and Happy has to run away, Matt has the opportunity to advise him not to sweat so much, leaving him wondering how a blind lawyer could know that.
More dialogue and interaction between the three Spider-Man
The three spider-men get a chance to share more screen time in the new extended footage, having extra time to chat and compare your experiences and skills.
For example, moments before the final battle, Andrew Garfield’s character confesses to Tobey Maguire’s that looking back on his time as a superhero, there are many things he wishes he had done differently. Maguire’s Spider-Man chimes in after this to mention that a second chance would be nice. Both lines could be read as the actors expressing interest in starring in new Spider-Man movies..
New post-credits scene from ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’
The post-credits scene that replaces the trailer for ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’ that we could see in the original premiere is a compilation of the videos of students from the last four years at Peter’s institute. We see footage of MJ, Ned, Flash, and even Liz from ‘Homecoming’, over the years, but one thing stands out: Peter’s “absence.” The curious thing is not that Peter has disappeared from the photos, but that he has gone into the background. He is a total unknown.
This would explain one of the loose ends left by Doctor Strange’s oblivion spell. How could his companions forget Peter Parker? Would he disappear from photos like Marty McFly in ‘Back to the Future’? here is the answer.
