It all begins here: ‘Anais is not the end of her surprises’… Julie Sasost reveals what’s next for her character after David’s betrayal

AlloCiné: In the episode Here it all begins on Friday on TF1, Salome discovers that David was responsible for Mathieu’s death. How will Anais react when she learns the truth?

Jules Sasost : It will be a bit difficult, because Anais is in a hurry to open her restaurant with the whole team. The further the story goes, the more chaos there will be in Anais’s life. He is completely overwhelmed by everything that is happening. And Salome will have a hard time telling her friend about David’s secret. But he is forced to tell her everything and Anais will be completely shocked.

He didn’t expect that at all. There will be a brief moment when he’s going to wonder if it’s true or not. If David is really responsible for Matthew’s death. But then he will be at the peak of his worst emotional state. David is all she has left and she will realize that she is finally cheating. It is very violent.

Will all this threaten Anais’s pop-up restaurant project at Pop Up? Or will the restaurant still work?

Anais indeed finds herself at the helm of an ephemeral restaurant. He will have to lead his brigade, but it is very difficult with everything he is going through and Salome’s announcement of David’s betrayal.

He will be completely disturbed by this story and will want to find an explanation, evidence. And unfortunately he leaves his brigade once again because he can’t do otherwise. He must solve this mystery. He can no longer concentrate. And everything he was doing in the kitchen no longer makes sense because it all started with David.

Can we expect a final confrontation with David? Will this be the climax of the story?

There will be a very big rivalry between these two, yes. Anais no longer wants to talk to David. But he will try to find evidence. Salome is going to tell him that there is a video that dates back to the day Mathieu died. And Anais will try to get hold of it. And as the episodes progress, we discover that the truth is actually very nuanced and that there is another explanation for the mystery of Matthew’s death. Anais does not end with surprises. It will still fall from above.

Will Anais come out of it all changed?

completely. He’ll come out of this whole story a lot calmer, with better sneakers. It had to come out at some point for this abscess to burst. I think she’ll get something positive out of it in the end, even if what she’s going through is very painful. Putting it all aside didn’t help him all these years.

Will he reconcile with Lysander?

Maybe because in each ark there is always a problem between them and each time they manage to get out of it stronger. So we can hope (laughs). But I won’t say anything. But in any case, at first he will be reconciled with Salome, who will be too much for him, both in the kitchen and in relation to everything that will happen with David. Salome does follow him for the rest of the story.

This story gave us a glimpse of Matthew, Anais’ brother. Will we meet their parents soon?

I don’t think they are scheduled to arrive at this time. Anyway, they don’t appear in this ark and I have no information about my character’s parents. At the moment he has no parents (laughs).

This Monday, This Is Where It All Begins celebrates its 500th episode. Did those first two years go by too fast?

And really. It’s been a pretty crazy adventure, it happened so fast. We welcome this 500th episode, even if the episode itself remains a series regular. We really have to congratulate the writing team, because it is thanks to them that we are here. They have great ideas and do some pretty amazing work.

Since the start of the school year, we’ve seen the arrival of quite a few new characters, including Liam Hellman, who plays David, and Livio, played by Corentin Pelliss, who has joined the Master. Isn’t it nice to get a new cast and some new blood every new season?

It’s super cute. It gives you a whole new energy and allows you not to rest on your laurels. Because we all know each other so well now, we’ve become a real family, and when new actors arrive, we want to do everything we can to make them feel integrated. And I think it also motivates us to give the best of ourselves on every level. It gives us another energy and we want to beat ourselves even more. We want to be good and show that we are hardworking. So that’s definitely a positive.

What would you like for the rest of the series and the future of Anais? Maybe a little more comedy?

I’d love to have a little more comedy, that’s for sure. I had a bit in the summer ark, in a supporting role. I liked the little side where he came to set up each other’s stories, it was pretty funny. And I keep telling myself it would be nice to see him in a slightly more fun register after that very dramatic back-school arc.

I think the public wants that too, because we said a lot about him in the beginning, that he was too serious, not too funny. She looked a bit like Hermione Granger in Harry Potter (laughs). That’s a side of him that I really like, but to go more comedy, I wouldn’t say no. And they bring more and more, even in what I get now.

Do you have any upcoming projects outside of the TV series?

So far I’m focusing here, it’s all just starting, but I think next year will be more fruitful in terms of projects, because I’ve learned to surround myself better professionally. I think next year will be different.

Want to take part in Dancing with the Stars next year, like Clément Rémiens, Aurélie Pons or Thomas da Costa now?

I think the show is really great. I congratulate all the candidates and especially Thomas da Costa who is participating this year. Everything starts here and the stars dance at the same time, it’s a huge job, it requires a lot of energy, it’s a super intense rhythm. We need to manage this fatigue.

After that, we will never know too much until we are asked the question and until we ask it ourselves. But I think I’ll be pretty tense. Only last year, my hands sweated for Aurel in society, so I can’t imagine how I would feel if I were a candidate myself (laughs). I think fictional projects like a single or a mini-series would be less stressful and already great. But I’m open to anything.
