As we slowly approach the end of the first season of House of Dragons, the Targaryen-centric series will once again shift gears in its eighth episode. After a few small time jumps during the first episode, the community witnessed a ten-year jump from the sixth episode.
The upheaval in the Game of Thrones spin-off was marked by casting changes, notably for two of the headliners: Millie Alcock made way for Emma D’Arcy to play Rhaenyra, and Emily Carrey was replaced by Olivia Cooke. of Alicent.
The other characters have changed a lot along the way, especially the Targaryen and Velarion children, who grow at a rapid rate as the episodes progress. And if you’re just getting used to their little baby and faces, get ready for another upheaval.
The teaser for episode 8 really makes it clear that another leap is coming to punctuate the series. At least five years will pass between the seventh and eighth episodes, if the images are to be believed. Children who used to fight and argue are now adults with more constructive ideas. So there is one final casting change for the Targaryen and Velarion children.
Thus, Aegon II Targaryen, played by Ty Tennant (son of actor David Tennant), is now played by Tom Glynn-Carney (Dunkirk, Tolkien, The King). Meanwhile, Helena Targaryen, then played by Evie Allen, is now played by Fia Saban (known for her role as Aelfwyn in The Last Kingdom). Viserys and Alicent’s second son, Eammond Targaryen, who lost his eye in episode 7, is now played by Ivan Mitchell instead of Leo Ashton.
A change is also expected on the part of Rhaenyra and Leonor’s children. Jacker’s Velarion is now played by Harry Collette instead of Leo Hart. His brother Lucerius Velarion, played by Harvey Sadler, is now portrayed by Elliott Griholt.
At the end, Daemon and Laena’s daughters also change their faces. Baella Targaryen is now played by Bethany Antonia instead of Shani Smethurst, and Reena Targaryen is played by Phoebe Campbell instead of Eva Osei-Gerning.
