Allociné: You are one of the last actors to join the cast of Un si grand soleil. How did you get into the series?
Lila Gyro : I have conducted meetings workshops between casting directors and actors that take place in Paris. I met Joanna Delon, who later wrote me for the role of Thais. And it worked!
What was it like to arrive on the set? So Big Sun is known to have a big family, did he fit in well?
Very good ! Additionally, the first scenes were the beach scenes with Colin Ramos-Pinto (interpreter for Kira’s editor’s note). Since I have a lot of footage with them, it was really cool to start with that. We hit it off really well right away.
What attracted you to the role of Thais?
I think she’s a pretty mature girl with guts. This makes him both rational and sometimes hyper-impulsive. I think that’s an interesting duality to play with.
Is Tice’s character intended to stay in the series?
So far yes! Since Tice is in high school and working at her father’s pizzeria, she has to stay yes.
Thais falls in love with Damien (Pierre Andrau), her philosophy teacher. Even if she doesn’t want to meet his advances, Tice doesn’t give up and sets out to achieve her goals. Will Damien and Thais live a love story?
Something will happen between them. All I can tell you is that Thais is trying to protect her feelings and it won’t be easy to listen to her. Especially with adults who see him as the young teenager that he is. But Tais acts quite confidently and feels like a younger woman inside.
Damien finally gives in to temptation. We imagine this news will have some complications…
This is a relationship that will bring them a lot of conflict. There is also an obvious chemistry between them that will be hard to let go of. They will live a secret love story until it comes out because a secret like that never stays a secret for long (laughs).
Will Tais find support from Kira?
At first, Tyce hides his story from Kira, but eventually she supports him. She will eventually realize that this is a real story and that Thais has feelings for her.
How is the filming going with Pierre Andraus, your acting partner?
Very good. He is a great partner. I was very lucky to meet him. We got along really well, so it was great together.
Tice’s character is still a blank page for the audience. Will this plot let us know more about him and his past?
This especially shows several aspects of his personality. We are not there yet on his past. We will have to wait a little longer.
Thais and Kira formed a wonderful friendship. How do you see this duo of friends?
I think it’s great. It is very well written. It is really a beautiful friendship story and in my opinion another love story. It’s really cool to explore the friendship between these two girls. There is a great tenderness between them and I find it very beautiful.
What role will Thais play in Louis and Kira’s story? Will she be able to help him turn the page or bring them together?
She’s basically there to support him. When Kira is in love, she’s there. And when Kira wants to draw a line under the story, she’s there too. There is literally no compulsion.
Un si grand soleil is known for tackling strong social issues through its characters. Is there a subject you want to protect thanks to Thais?
I haven’t asked myself the question yet, but I’m pretty open. I find that any conspiracy is a good one to defend as long as it is examined against all odds. So I’m more interested in getting things done.
Do you have any special wishes? A genre you want to explore, like comedy, for example?
After this arc, I’m not against studying comedy (laughs). That said, there will be moments of lightness for Thais with their high school friends. Fortunately, it’s not all drama. They are still young people living through adolescence.
Do you have any other projects outside of the series that you’d like to tell us about?
I work with a friend who is quite an independent director. We are coming out of filming together for an unconventional TV series project. I like to work on projects that I like, even if they are not big productions, as they say.
