“The Rings of Power”: Everything is ashes in the new episode

After the catastrophic ending of episode 6 of the series “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power”, what remained were ashes and the inhabitants of the Southlands, along with the Númenóreans, took care of their wounded and retreated.

With the ashes covering the Southlands, we see the characters separated after the tragedy, trying to distance themselves from the ashes. The episode shows people’s losses, be it their home, friends, purpose, or even something in themselves.

On the other hand, the hairy feet reappeared. The Stranger tries to help the little ones, but it almost ends in tragedy. This raises distrust of the hobbit ancestors. However, it becomes increasingly evident that the Stranger is not Sauron.

In addition to seeing the good things come out of his powers, it is possible to see the kindness in the character, who seems to only want to help, even when his actions don’t end well.

A new duo joins in this episode and “The Rings of Power” again does a good job of pairing the characters together, so that one can teach each other something and also for viewers to learn more about each other. on the other. Now, it was Galadriel and Theo’s turn to see each other, which spawned a beautiful dialogue between the elf and Bronwyn’s young human son.

The Númenóreans find themselves in a difficult situation, with the queen regent seeing only ashes. Young Isildur’s fate is also uncertain and his father blames Galadriel for having them headed to the Southern Lands.

As might be expected, where there are disagreements, there are also exciting encounters and this episode featured a few. From a son who finds his mother, to Galadriel who comes face to face with the queen regent, who makes a surprising promise to the elven commander. She even embarks on a new journey, adding company and appearing ready to face the consequences of her actions.

In Khazad-dum, we see Durin IV run into his father, the king of the dwarves, as he pursues his mission to save the elves. However, he and Elrond make a fantastic discovery after an emotional goodbye.

Something very symbolic happens at the end of the episode, with a group of four furry little feet setting off on a perilous journey. Have we seen something like this before? Or rather, in the future …

Several questions are left at the end of the episode, which may or may not be answered next week, in the final episode of the series: What happened to Isildur? What will be the fate of Galadriel and Halbrand? Will Númenor return to help the Elves in the battles to come? Who are the creatures chasing the Stranger? Will Durin be able to get the mithril to help Elrond and the elves?

Before the credits, we saw a macabre scene, where Adar renames the Southern Lands with a terrifying new name, which even “The Lord of the Rings” fans have already seen.

Episode 8 of “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power”, which will conclude the first season of the series, arrives next Friday (14), on Prime Video. The platform already has the first seven episodes available.
