Keanu Reeves is now a name recognized around the world as one of Hollywood’s biggest stars. But the “John Wick” and “Matrix” star didn’t get off to such an immediate start as an actor and it took him a while to get started on his career.
The Canadian actor participated in the television show Jimmy Kimmel Live, and at one point in the episode, the presenter surprised him by showing him an old interview, in which a very young Keanu Reeves was promoting a Canadian movie for TV.
“I play a 17-year-old body with a 40-year-old mind, okay?” Reeves said in the old footage. “But then I had to play around with my 1940s conception, which was a little bit older, right? You look at a 40-year-old man and you say, “You are old”. You know, but it isn’t. I mean, Robert Urich, I was watching him, he’s a lively guy. And so I was trying to include that too. “
After the footage aired, the current Reeves said, “I didn’t know you were going to do that. Wow, it was a blast from the past. ”He then provided the context.
Reeves, who was living in Toronto at the time, was promoting the TV movie “Young Again”. He got the job after auditioning for a “supporting role”, but they were like, “Hey, you could be the man.” One of the guys. “And I was like” Great. “He continued,” It was a big break for me because it was, like, movie of the week, it was a great role and it allowed me to find an agent in Hollywood. “.
Keanu Reeves and Marvel
Reeves has always declared himself a comic nerd, but despite being an action star involved in the major franchises, he has never played a Marvel character.
“I may have lost my nerd card when I grew up, but when I was younger I was pretty nerdy with comics.” Reeves said to Jimmy Kimmel. The presenter then said, “I feel like when you’re a kid, you’re a comic nerd, but then you’re 50 and you like comics, you’re a nerd.” Keanu then admitted with a laugh “Okay, I am! I’ll become a nerd. “
With constant speculation that he might join the MCU in the future, the actor was asked which character he would like to play his 10-year-old self. “I think he probably would like to be Ghost Rider,” Reeves said after pondering the question.
Johnny Blaze, also known as Ghost Rider, is a stunt biker who gives his soul to the demon Mephisto to save his father’s life. This means that at night, and when he is close to evil, his flesh is consumed by the fire of hell and his head becomes a flaming skull. He first appeared in Marvel comics in 1972.
The Ghost Rider has already hit the big screen in 2007 and the film stars Nicolas Cage, who is back for a 2012 sequel, “Ghost Rider – Spirit of Vengeance”. There is yet another incarnation of Ghost Rider, called Robbie Reyes, who first appeared in the comics in 2014. Reyes was played by Gabriel Luna in season 4 of “Agents of the SHIELD”
Keanu Reeves’ entry into Marvel could be a matter of time, either as Ghost Rider in a potential character entry into the MCU, or as another hero (or villain) of the universe. The actor has already confirmed that he has had conversations with Kevin Feige, the president of Marvel Studios.
Reeves is now also the author of his own comic series called “Brzrkr”. The story follows an immortal warrior fighting through the ages. The second volume in the series was released in September 2022.
The actor will star in “John Wick 4”, which is expected to hit screens in March 2023, after two delays.
