The trailer for the animated film Super Mario Bros., released on October 6, has caused quite an incredible amount of enthusiasm on the Internet. Among the big themes is Chris Pratt’s voice on Mario, which isn’t to the taste of English-speaking fans.
Nintendo dropped a hit by revealing the first images of the Super Mario Bros movie live on October 6th! The trailer caused a lot of ink to flow, creating a surprising amount of excitement.

For his part, Star-Lord’s interpreter in Guardians of the Galaxy shared his enthusiasm for the idea of getting into Mario’s jumpsuit.
“I worked closely with the directors and tried a lot before arriving at something I’m very proud of. I can’t wait for the audience to see and hear it. It’s a dub of an animated film, not a live-action film.”he noted.
“I’m not going to dress up as a plumber for the whole movie. I’m giving a voice for an animated, updated character, and it’s something you’ve never heard before in the Mario world.”he clarified.
However, after watching the trailer, English-speaking fans weren’t really convinced. The latter only hear Chris Pratt’s voice on Mario, no special color, and can’t see where he is “never heard of it” there.
Is VF better than VO?
Consequently, many American and English Internet users have turned to the French version of the film, which is closer to Mario from the video games than to Chris Pratt.
“Very good, I’m going to watch the Super Mario movie in French”, commented netizen Yong Ye, in a tweet that was liked and shared by thousands of other accounts. and for the specialized site IGN, “The French dub is delicious.”
For its part, Culture Crave states: France got a voice that sounds like Mario and we got Chris Pratt.
Another netizen, Ajay also created a stir by posting the VF trailer accompanied by this comment: “The French dub has a killer Mario voice!”
This “killer” is none other than Pierre Tessier, a very active dubbing actor, especially as the French voice of Ryan Reynolds.
