A more beautiful life: “I said no to bringing Samia back to life” … Fabien Carat’s revelations about her return

As the grand finale of Plus belle la vie approaches, Fabien Carat has prepared a pleasant surprise for fans of the soap opera: the actress who played Samia will be returning to the series!

For AlloCiné, it tells us how this comeback was created in secret and gives some clues about the conditions of his character’s reappearance in Mistral from October 19th in France 3…

AlloCiné: You said that once the “Plus belle la vie” page is turned, the series will be behind you… but here you are again!

Fabien Carat: He and not. Since I left, every time I go out, people tell me they regret leaving. Some are mad at me! (Laughs) Not that I felt guilty, but I told myself that I didn’t do this to hurt people. When I was asked before the summer if I would return to the PBLV finals, I said yes. Obviously, if the series had not been suspended, I would never have come back, nor would Samia have been alive. For me, this is not a return, but a wink, a small gift to the community.

So how does this wink appear?

It remains very light, it is only in Bohr’s imagination. It remains subtle and allows my character and I, her translator, to understand a little more about the end of her story. There will be many revelations. why did it disappear how did it disappear I was in the dark about this departure.

How was your secret reappearance at Mistral organized?

The new producer Claire de la Rochefoucauld called me and told me that the series could not be completed without Samia. He asked me if I would be okay to come back and told me that if I wanted them to revive me! I said no because Samia’s DNA was found at her scene, so she was definitely dead. I didn’t want to change that either because I didn’t go all the way back.

How were the writers going to bring Samia back from the dead?

Since we hadn’t seen the body, it would have been possible if I had wanted it…even if it seemed strange to me because of the evidence of his death, anything can be done in fiction! (laughs)

How did it feel to be back on the set of Plus belle la vie?

I left less than two years ago and stayed for fifteen and a half years. This means, in proportion, that I have not forgotten anything about the operation there. It was completely natural and I had great prospects for my return because it was temporary and final.

Almost like you never went short?

Yes, and at the same time, when I left the show, I was having trouble breathing. I regenerated there and was fine. I was happy to see the actors again and they were excited too. We received it as a gift of life. For example, when something is over and you have a little break, as if you have the opportunity to talk with the deceased for another quarter of an hour.

How long will your appearance last?

It seems to me that it will be more than five weeks. I spent almost two months on the set.

In what context does Samia “visit” Boher?

I return like a ghost. I’m still pretty relevant. I had some really cool stuff to play with. Boher finds himself in the same situation he found himself in with Samia two years ago: Leah, his new companion, is in the same mess, and for Boher, everything starts over, everything goes downhill. The other woman in his life disappears and Samia comes to her aid because she was there. He shakes Bohr, he is his conscience. When he goes too far or gets frustrated, she is there as a guardian angel to shake his coconut tree and wake him up. They have real exchanges, only he sees it as normal. Sometimes he shouts at him too! There is a lot of dialogue between them.

Will there be flashbacks to explain Samya’s disappearance?

Yes and I love it! There will be old and new ones in Algeria.

Do you think “PBLV” is over forever or can it exist somewhere else or else?

I have no answers. It’s always very surprising that it actually sticks, but you have to be happy that it lasted 18 years. However, it is true that when you see the Place du Mistral pass, you say to yourself that it can’t be! This set is there, alive…maybe one day it will continue in a different form, with a different cast. Life and its surprises…
