Louis Garrel’s new film L’Innocent is an original crime comedy starring Noemi Merlant, Roshdi Zem and Anouk Greenberg. The director and his actors tell us about this ambitious and original feature film.
For his fourth feature, Louis Garrel embarks on a comedy and heist film innocent. This new film by the French screenwriter, actor and director, which was screened in the Cannes Film Festival’s “No Competition” section, is based on an autobiographical premise invented and kidnapped by the main stakeholder.
Louis Garrel stars as Abel, a bruised man who panics at the thought of seeing his mother Sylvie (aka Greenberg), who in the sixties is about to marry Michel (Roshdi Zem), a man in prison where he teaches theater. With the help of his best friend Clemens (Noemi Merlant), will do everything to protect his mother. Except that meeting her new stepfather will disrupt her life and faith.
Mixing family history and detective story, Louis Garrel offers a burlesque and tender modern comedy in the spirit of a French film from another clean and clever time. The director and his cast give us a behind-the-scenes look at this ambitious and enjoyable feature film that you shouldn’t miss.
