Warning, this article contains spoilers for She-Hulk Episode 9.
The She-Hulk series just ended on Disney + gives us a little insight into the MCU sequel. The final episode did indeed mark Bruce Banner’s return to Earth after his long journey to Sakaar. And the green giant did not come back alone, because he is accompanied by his son.
Marvel fans know him and have been waiting for him on the screens since Planet Hulk: his name is Skaar, and in the comics he is the Emperor of Sakaar. A brave warrior with all the attributes of the Hulk: superhuman strength, impenetrable skin… and the bad temper that goes with it. He also has other powers that he inherited from his mother, Kaier. He can especially manipulate lava and stone.
Hulk and his son Scar.
This arrival and the release of the She-Hulk series on Bruce’s cousin proves that things are finally going down for the green giant. His world has never been explored in cinema in the last ten years. And while The Incredible Hulk is legit in the MCU, Mark Ruffalo never got the chance to play him in a solo movie (or even a Disney+ series). We actually know very little about his character or what he was able to do on Sakaar at the end of Age of Ultron and in Thor: Ragnarok (well, we have an idea…).
But Tatiana Maslany’s response to the She-Hulk finale suggests that this solo opus will be well down the pipeline. “Save it for the movie,” he tells AI Kevin as he explains that Bruce was going to explain the reason for his absence. As of now, no Green Avenger feature films have been announced, and it’s unclear where Marvel might fit in Phase 5. Unless we wait for phase 6 in 2024/2025.
