House of the Dragon, the highly anticipated spin-off of Game of Thrones fans, easily won over the public. Breaking audience records across the Atlantic on HBO and meeting with great success on OCS in France, this prequel series has managed to become a real television event like its parent series of a few years ago.
Such is the success that the series has already been renewed for a second season within days of the first episode airing. Knowing that Dragon House is an adaptation of a novel Fire and blood By George RR Martin, it would definitely take more than two seasons to tell all the events of the book. The author is of the same opinion, because according to his estimation, it will take four seasons.
George RR Martin posts frequently his blog And in one of those last posts, the novelist talked about multiple jumps in the series, including two major ones – 10 years and 6 years. These time jumps resulted in remote changes and time warps, which the author thinks are well handled:
“I think co-star Ryan Condall handled the time jumps very well. And I love the young versions of Alicent and Renira, as well as the grown-up versions and the actors who play them. I have an amazing cast and I love them all).
Even if the author wished to see some parts of the book develop more on screen, such as the relationship between Rhaenyra and Ser Harwyn, the marriage of Daemon and Laena or the birth of certain children, he is delighted with the result. An adaptation for which he wished to be given more episodes.
“If Dragon House had 13 episodes a season, we could have shown everything we needed to go through the time jump… even if it ran the risk of some viewers complaining that the show was too much.” “Slowly”, this “nothing happened”.
As it stands, I’m excited that we still have 10 hours per season to tell our story. (Rings of the Force only has 8, as you may have noticed, while my series Dark Winds gets 6 episodes per season). I hope it will continue in this direction. It would take four full seasons of 10 episodes to do A Dance with Dragons justice from start to finish.”
So, are HBO officials giving the green light for a full season 4 of Dragon House?
