Actor Daniel Radcliffe and writer JK Rowling spoke this Friday (14) about the death of actor Robbie Coltrane, Rubeus Hagrid from the “Harry Potter” film series.
Radcliffe, who played Harry Potter, who had a great friend in the character of Coltrane, posted a statement about the actor’s death, calling Coltrane “one of the funniest people I’ve ever met”.
The actors starred together in all eight Harry Potter films, from 2001’s Philosopher’s Stone to 2011’s Deathly Hallows – Part 2, with Rubeus Hagrid remaining a close friend of Harry until the end of the year.
“Robbie was one of the funniest people I’ve ever met and made us laugh constantly as kids on set,” Radcliffe’s statement reads. “I have particularly fond memories of him keeping spirits up in ‘The Prisoner of Azkaban’ when we all hid for hours from the torrential rain in Hagrid’s cabin and told stories and joked to keep us up. I feel incredibly lucky to have known and worked with him and I am very sad for his death. He was an amazing actor and a lovely man. “
Coltrane participated in the HBO Max special “Harry Potter – 20 Years of Magic: Back to Hogwarts”, along with Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint, the main trio of the plot.
“The legacy of movies is that my children’s generation will show them to their children,” Coltrane said in the special. “So you can watch it in 50 years, easy. I won’t be here, unfortunately, but Hagrid will be there. “
Coltrane’s agent said in the statement informing the world of the actor’s death that he still receives letters from Harry Potter fans every week, which has been repeated over a period of over 20 years.
In addition to Radcliffe, the author of the series of books “Harry Potter”, adapted for the cinema, has posted on her Twitter a photo of herself next to the author, in which she mourned the death of Robbie Coltrane. “I’ll never meet anyone remotely like Robbie again. He was an incredible and complete talent, and I was lucky enough to meet him, work with him and laugh with him. I send my love and heartfelt condolences to his family, especially his children, “said the writer.
