HBO has released a preview of episode 10 of “House of the Dragon,” which will be the final chapter of the show’s first season, and the video has a moment that foreshadows a major death to come.
“House of the Dragon”, a “Game of Thrones” prequel series, is based on George RR Martin’s book “Fire and Blood”, which focuses on the history of the Targaryen family, the so-called dragon house.
While it differs from the story of the book in some places, including a very important one, the series has remained true to the essence of the events narrated by the author, which occurred about 200 years before the main series.
The preview of episode 10 was released shortly after the end of the ninth episode, which arrived on HBO this Sunday (16), which tells the coup d’état carried out by the so-called Greens, a political group that supports the arrival of Alicent Hightower’s children at throne, instead of Rhaenyra Targaryen, the eldest daughter of King Viserys I, chosen by him as his heir (include here the political groups called Greens and Blacks).
In the previous episode, after the death of King Viserys I, Alicent and Otto Hightower, along with the other Greens, crown Aegon, the eldest son of Viserys, as the new king, now known as Aegon II. However, at the end of the ceremony, Rhaenys makes an appearance with his dragon.
The preview video of the season finale of “House of the Dragon” begins with Rhaenys herself giving a warning to Rhaenyra: “The Greens are coming for you Rhaenyra and your children”.
Watch the preview of episode 10 of “The House of the Dragon”, which will conclude the first season of the series:
Although Rhaenys’s speech is an omen of what is to come, it is another speech that anticipates that death quoted in the title of this text: “Send us,” says Prince Jacaerys Velaryon, along with his brother Lucerys.
Jacaerys’ request corresponds to this moment in the book, as the Blacks prepare to face the Greens for the right of Rhaenyra and her descendants to the Iron Throne. The prince asks his mother that he and his brother be sent to forge alliances with the Lords of Westeros in an effort to strengthen the black side in the war to come.
In the book, Rhaenyra allows her children to be sent as her dragon-mounted messengers, but decides that the eldest, Jacaerys, must make the longest journey, to the North, seeking the support of the Starks, while the youngest, Lucerys , would remain the simplest mission: securing the support of the Baratheons, who had blood ties to Rhaenys and swore their support to Rhaenyra (scene from the first episode of the series).
However, upon his arrival in Storm’s End, young Lucerys comes face to face with his uncle, Aemond Targaryen, who also went there seeking Baratheon’s support for the cause of the Greens (and he succeeded). Lucerys leaves Storm’s End riding Arrax after a tense encounter with his relative who is on the opposite side of the war and whose eye he had poked out in a past confrontation.
But instead of letting his grandson go, Aemond chased after Lucerys, riding on Vhagar, infinitely larger and older than the young dragon of Lucerys, and after a brief confrontation, Rhaenyra loses her first child.
From the preview, this is arguably the biggest event of episode 10, and in some ways it is the trigger for the war, with Aemond becoming known as the “Kin Killer,” and retaliation leading to a bloody period known as The Dance. of dragons.
Episode 10 of “House of the Dragon” will premiere next Sunday (23), at 10pm, on HBO and HBO Max.
