The Watcher on Netflix: “terrible”, “disappointing”, “waste of time” … the end of the series is disappointing

Warning, spoilers! This article discusses the ending of “The Watcher”.

Following the success of Dahmer, duo Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan continue to explore true and terrifying stories with The Watcher. The 7-episode series, hosted by an amazing cast – from Naomi Watts to Bobby Cannavale through Mia Farrow – follows the nightmare of a family being targeted by a stalker after they move out.

In his letters, signed “The Observer”, the stalker claims that the house of the new residents is protected from generation to generation. First of all, he seems willing to do anything to get the owners to leave the building.

Although it seems straight out of a horror movie, this incident actually happened in 2014 in the state of New Jersey. The series follows a couple’s investigation and a game of suspicion that takes place next door. The neighbors, almost all confused, then become the perfect suspects.

If the various episodes are quite enjoyable, the ending is understandably disappointing. with supervisor, creators Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan aren’t going to follow through on their concept, however promising. Opinions on social networks are unanimous: the end of the series leaves a certain taste of unfinished business:

The ending of The Watcher has to be one of the worst endings I’ve ever seen on screen. Could they have gone in several directions and ended up like this? absolutely terrible.”

I just finished The Watcher. I know it’s based on a true story, but this ending makes the show a colossal waste of time.

The Watcher has a terribly written ending that makes you feel like you wasted 6 hours of your life watching the show.”

The Watcher is available on Netflix.
