“Black Adam” maintains complexity in the origin of the antihero and surprises in special effects | criticism

Next Thursday (20) arrives in theaters one of the most anticipated films by fans of the DC Extended Universe (DCEU), and also by actor Dwayne Johnson: “Black Adam” (Black Adam). As usual, the I was able to verify the feature beforehand, and for those anxious who want to know if production is worth the investment of controlling everything right from the big screen, I predict it is worth a lot!

Directed by Jaume Collet-Serra, I would dare to say that “Black Adam” could be one of DC’s biggest bets in terms of the Extended Universe, or at least an impressive complement, even though Johnson has already guaranteed that the premiere is indeed, the beginning of a new era. The film maintains the complexity of the character’s origin (this is because each reading or interpretation of the story can offer an explanation with different details), which may produce different opinions, but managed to keep the attention, exploited a nice twist. (of course, perhaps not surprising for comic book fans), impressed in the special effects and, above all, thrilled and thrilled the viewer.

Everyone knows the rivalry between Marvel and DC, among the most cited points are the fidelity to the comics and the use of special effects. So it is possible that the new Warner Bros. will please the “Marvetics”, who love an action show full of magic, surreal juggling and power, all organized and with high visual quality. Fans lack nothing, we know.

Plus, it looks like DC is betting on another aspect usually noticed in Marvel movies: humor! Yes, “Black Adam” joined the “Deadpool” wave, obviously with poise and sophistication, which seemed ideal to me. It is worth mentioning that Johnson left several clouds of mystery in the air, one of which was the possibility of a crossover between DC and Marvel.

And speaking of ideals, according to some critics abroad, The Rock (Johnson), as he is popularly known, is flawless and monstrous in muscle and acting. His entry was not the most triumphant, but it was original and sober, very DC style. Johnson really embraced the conflict that is being Black Adam and even managed to keep us in limbo as to whether or not we like his form of justice. So, is he a hero or a villain? The film leaves this doubt almost palpable, generating a conflict in the viewer – I only know that he, considered an antihero, is a very difficult “villain” to not sympathize with.

Characters walking that fine line between doing the right thing and doing what needs to be done appeal to me, and I quickly saw a very similar character to those who, when the system fails, manage to do justice in ways that other people don’t. done. . I hadn’t seen that much in the superhero world, which was very exciting for me.”, This was the comment of the director, Collet-Serra, on the profile of Adão Negro.

: Almost 5,000 years after being bestowed on the almighty powers of the ancient gods and imprisoned soon thereafter, Black Adam (Dwayne Johnson) is freed from his earthly grave, ready to bring his unique form of justice to the modern world.

Overall, the production presents the kind of “exquisite” story to hear, the kind you hear before bed and dream. Well constructed, “Black Adam” not only shows the character’s dense origin, but also his genius, internal and external conflicts, including confrontation with the famous Justice Society. In this regard, nothing I say about Hawkman, played in the film by Aldis Hodge, will equal the thrill of seeing them in action in a live-action version.

Does “Black Adam” have a post-credits scene?

The million-dollar question and billion-dollar answer: YES, the movie has a post-credits scene, and it’s definitely the most emotional and euphoric part of the whole movie (critics and fans who were watching with me cheered. Get ready!).

It is worth mentioning here that I was able to verify the production in the IMAX version. Technology includes not only the film, but the environment (rooms and screens). If possible, I suggest choosing IMAX sessions for a better experience, but of course they are all valid.

In addition to The Rock and Hodge, “Black Adam” also features Noah Centineo as Atom Crusher; Sarah Shahi as Adrianna; Marwan Kenzari as Ishmael; Quintessa Swindell as Cyclone; Bodhi Sabongui as Amun; and Pierce Brosnan as Doctor Fate.

Distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures, the film will be released in theaters and IMAX cinemas across Brazil on October 20, however, advance screenings will be available as early as Wednesday (19). Ticket presales are open.
