Brendan Fraser has apologized for a scene from ‘George of the Jungle’: he recounted the chaos it caused

Brendan Fraser is relaunching his career in Hollywood thanks to ‘The Whale’, but his fans have a lot of love for his ’90s films.

One of those classics is “George of the Jungle,” in which he played a man from the jungle who, after rescuing an attractive woman named Ursula from an accident in the wild, moves with her to the city of San Francisco.

It was precisely this city that, in real life, they caused some trouble. The ‘Stand Off’ actor too (a movie you can watch for free on ViX) recently told what happened.

Brendan Fraser has apologized to the city of San Francisco for the problems caused on the set of ‘George of the Jungle’

The actor attended the Mill Valley Film Festival in San Francisco on October 13 and recalled his time on the set of the film. In particular, it brought to mind the scene in which his character uses his knowledge of vines to save a paratrooper stuck on the Bay Bridge whose life is in danger.

As he explained to the San Francisco Gate newspaper, this scene was achieved thanks to a mannequin, which was “hanging from poles”.

The first problem this shoot brought to San Francisco residents was traffic chaos:

“That stopped traffic on each side of the bridge,” he recalls.

Also, from a distance, the doll was easy to mistake for a real person. In fact, this happened to more than one back then.

Brendan Fraser said that:

“I had the TV on and Oprah’s show was interrupted because there was a special report with helicopters saying that a paratrooper was hanging from the bridge.”

Since he was already on location, he knew it was just a montage for the film, and his reaction was calm:

“I thought ‘wait (…) someone didn’t ask for permission (to film), someone’s going to have problems with the mayor’s office.’

According to the same newspaper, moments later, when Brendan Fraser was honored for his career at the festival in question, he recounted the joke and publicly apologized to the city of San Francisco for the inconvenience on the set of “George of the Jungle”:

“I just want to quickly apologize… Having said that, my mistake won’t happen again.”
