A more beautiful life: “Jerome’s appearance will allow Letizia to mourn,” reveals Laurent Or

From October 24 in Plus belle la vie, Jérôme Belesta will appear again in Mistral! Indeed, despite having died several years ago, the spirit of Letitia’s late husband (Caroline Riou) appears to Kevin (Theo Bertrand), the couple’s son.

The latter is faced with a problem that his father once had to solve. So Jerome’s “ghost” helps Kevin and reunites with his wife for a few scenes…

Laurent Ory, the interpreter of the character, has given Alosiné a return to the set of the soap opera France 3 films (as Fabien Carat, who will reprise the role of Samia), and the end of the fiction is approaching in great strides. .

AlloCiné: Why did you return to “Plus belle la vie”?

Laurent Orr: I left three years ago and was offered to come back to finish the series. There are people I really like on the set, from the costume designers, the make-up artists, the technicians, some of the actors… it was nice to meet them again. Then because Jérôme Bellesta is a character I had a lot of love for. So I wanted to pay him one last little tribute.

In what context does Jerome appear in Mistral?

There is a detective story in which Kevin, his son, is faced with a similar problem a few years before Jerome: in self-defense, he had to kill a young man… Kevin, as a policeman, turns out to be. Today, in this situation, he is accused of shooting the young man in turn.

In times of hardship, the deceased father appears to him more and more as a kind of benevolent spirit, the paternal support that he lacks. Jerome will be here as a conscience. It will actually be revealed, from Kevin’s mind. There will also be a small reunion between Jerome and Leticia, his wife… It will be a projection of Deficit and his memory.

How will the couple’s “reunion” develop?

There are two or three very beautiful sequences between Leticia and Jerome. This will be an opportunity for her to mourn her husband. When I returned to the shoot, thanks to the shots of Belesta everywhere in her apartment, I realized that their house looks a bit like a mausoleum. It seemed to me that I was still very aware of the characters and society in the series. This “coming back” will also be a way for him to come back and tell his wife “now go and live your life”.

Was it nice to play with your former partners again?

Caroline was a little scared because the last time I was there was three years ago, I wanted to take off. So I was probably worried or nervous at times, but I certainly remained a good companion. But from the moment I agreed to come back, it was because I wanted to. I didn’t come back to make money or anything, I really wanted to find them. And it went very well, we immediately found our old reflexes.

What did you think of Jerome’s death when you left “Plus belle la vie”?

If I dare, he didn’t deserve it. It could have developed differently. For X reason I decided to leave, at least take a step back. It would be possible to bring him back in the guise of another actor. Jerome was an emblematic representative of a certain French population that can be described as “yellow vests”, but not only.

I thought it was a shame to kill him because he was coming out of it. He has found a job that will rejuvenate him who has struggled all these years. I told the production to send him abroad and return him to another actor… they didn’t want him. There was a conflict with the producer and my former agent. Despite everything, Jerome’s death was very beautiful. It was quite moving.

did you miss me

You can’t say you missed me, but I thought you had something to say. He spoke to a very popular social class because he, along with his wife and children, personified everyday hardship and dignity in hardship. It was funny. What I loved about this character is that he kept getting stuck in his boots. He was an example. People often came to tell me about it. I missed the individuals in PBLV and vice versa, but the audience especially missed Jerome.

How did it feel to return to the set of the series?

It took me, I don’t hide it. I didn’t think I would have to. Back at the studio where Bellesta’s apartment was, all these photos of “me”/Jerome pissed me off. I also found that some people had no impression that they had left. Like I had to come back to finish this series with Jerome. Also, to go back to your first question, why did I come back, maybe that’s why in the end.

What was your reaction when you found out about the end of Plus belle la vie?

I went, by the way, because I didn’t want to be a prisoner of this series, and I told myself that if I had known that it would stop three years after I left, I probably wouldn’t have gone. ‘. I would say I needed to come back in six months, a year… I just didn’t want to spend 10 or 15 years here. Anyway, I was surprised by this statement. I feel sorry for those who have worked on PBLV for so long and I feel sorry for the viewers for whom the characters are a real family that they find every day.
