Season 19 of Grey’s Anatomy, which is under the banner of going back to basics, still has a lot of surprises in store for fans of the medical series. Earlier this week, Deadline revealed that Jesse Williams, who played Dr. Jackson Avery for 12 years, was set to return for episode 5, which airs on November 3 in the US.
And it looks like the Doctor isn’t the only one making an appearance in the coming weeks. According to our colleagues at TVLine, Greg German will reprise his role as Tom Koracik in the same episode. A pretty logical return after the character said goodbye to Gray Sloan at the end of season 17 and moved to Boston to help Jackson run his mother’s foundation.
On the November 3 episode, Koracik reconnects with Katherine (Debbie Allen), who is in Boston, about a personal matter. Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) will also spend the episode in an American city, where she will find Jackson.
Greg German has already returned to Grey’s Anatomy for two episodes in season 18. He came to help Amelia and Meredith research Parkinson’s disease.
When announcing his departure in May 2021, Krista Vernoff, showrunner of the medical series, confirmed that Tom Koracik would return to Grey’s Anatomy:
“Greg German is a comedic genius and we’ve been so lucky to have him lend his talents to our show over the past few years.“, he said then.I will miss Greg terribly, but we plan to see Tom Koracik again in the future.“
Since his departure, Greg German has joined the cast of Firefly Lane Season 2, which is due out in December on Netflix.
