The actor has shown a photo of the director of photography on his Instagram account.
Last Friday, actor Alec Baldwin, 64, posted a tribute to cinematographer Halyna Hutchins, who died on the set of his western film Rust in New Mexico on October 21, 2021.. Hutchins was 42 when she was shot on set by Baldwin with a gun that turned out to contain live bullets. The case continued to be investigated months later. Director Joel Souza was also injured in the incident, and Baldwin maintains that he did not pull the trigger.
Alongside a photo of Hutchins crouching behind a camera, the actor captioned his Instagram post on Friday: “Today, one year ago…“Stay strong my friend,” actor Leslie Jordan wrote in a comment. “Thinking of you and everyone affected [sic] for this terrible accident.
While the criminal investigation by the Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office is still pending and no charges have been filed, Baldwin and other producers of the film ‘Rust’ recently settled a murder lawsuit filed by the widower of Hutchins, Matthew, earlier this year. Along with the deal, the team agreed to complete the film with Matthew now on board as executive producer.
Matthew, who is the father of Hutchins’ son Andros, said in a statement: “I have no interest in engaging in recriminations or attributions of blame (to the producers or to Mr. Baldwin)“. He further added: “All of us believe that Halyna’s death was a terrible accident. I am grateful that the producers and the entertainment community have come together to pay tribute to Halyna’s final work.”
Sharing news of the deal on Instagram earlier this month, Baldwin wrote: “We are pleased to announce today the settlement of the civil case brought on behalf of the family of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins. Throughout this difficult process, everyone has held a specific desire to do what is best for Halyna’s son.“. “We thank everyone who contributed to the resolution of this tragic and painful situation,” he added.
In an interview with George Stephanopoulos of ABC News in December, Baldwin said that he would “do whatever he could to undo what happened.” “I want to make sure that it doesn’t look like I’m the victim, because we have two victims here.. Everything that happened that day before this event was precipitated into one idea, and that idea is that Halyna and I had something profound in common,” he added, “we both assumed the gun was empty, despite those fake bullets.”
