The director of ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’, James Gunn will take over the worlds of DC’s movies and TV series alongside ‘The Suicide Squad’ producer Peter Safran..
In the role of co-chairman and co-CEO, the director and producer will lead DC Studios, which will succeed DC Films as the new division of Warner Bros.
By jointly assuming the coveted role, Gunn and Safran will replace former DC Films boss Walter Hamadaafter a lengthy search for his replacement by David Zaslav, CEO of Warner Bros. Discovery.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Gunn will focus on creative and Safran on production and business.and both will continue directing and producing their respective projects.
Gunn has confirmed the news on Twitter sharing a screenshot of the news that he has titled: “Exactly. Nice to be here.”
In a joint statement, Gunn and Safran said: “We’re honored to be the stewards of these DC characters we’ve loved since we were kids, we look forward to collaborating with the world’s most talented writers, directors and actors to create an integrated, multi-layered universe that allows for the individual expression of the artists involved“.
“Our commitment to Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Harley Quinn and the rest of the DC characters is matched only by our commitment to the wonder of human possibility that these characters represent.”
