KITT, the fantastic car, has a new owner and is in Sabadell

Goodbye to Michael Knight, hello to Michael Miralles.

Michael is not called by his grandfather or by saints, but by Michael Knight. With that origin story, Michael Miralles from Sabadell could not be anything other than what he is: the owner of one of the best replicas of KITT, the intelligent vehicle from the eighties series The fantastic car. Her grandmother was such a fan of the series that her parents decided to name her after the character that, for better or worse, marked David Hasselhof’s career, with all his controversies. Since he was a child, Michael (from Sabadell) was obsessed with the futuristic racing car of his namesake and, a few years ago, he decided to build one.

This fan has dedicated five years of his life to fine-tuning an ’82 Pontiac TransAm, the same model from which Michael Knight’s vehicle was built for the series. After lots of orders from all over the world to get the original eighties parts, the result will not be the longest car in the world (that’s this one), but it could well be the coolest.

The Sabadell KITT does not lack the black rims, the retractable headlights, the spoiler, the charismatic bumper and, of course, the oscillating red light that made the fantastic car unmistakable. However, what is truly amazing is inside the vehicle: the bizarre dashboard, the consoles full of buttons, the GPS, the double screen… Even the control is a nail in the pants to the series, which still continues to inspire a whole new generation of steering wheels futurists. Miralles’s fantastic car has everything that a current average model has, but passed through the filter of the unforgettable action series. It even has its own Siri, which, at the time, was an on-board computer voiced by Carlos Revilla, the late actor who also voiced Homer Simpson.

It is not uncommon to see Michael and his buga circulating around the city, but not at car fairs or even at events. And, in case you’ve been thinking about it all this time: yes, it’s also the car from the video clip of KITT and the cars of the past, the great song of Russian Ladilla. If you last until the end of the song without starting to dance, you will find a easter egg about this story.
