“Witness”

A British intelligence agent is tasked by his boss to hunt down a woman who he believes is blackmailing his son. Stephen goes on the trail of a suspect – she turns out to be serial killer Joanna. The protagonist continues to spy, trying to remain in the shadows, but eventually falls in love with the insidious fugitive and begins to feel compassion for her.
The role of Steven is rarely mentioned when talking about Ewan McGregor, and perhaps in vain. The “Trainspotting” and “Star Wars” star fits perfectly into the role of a detective, fascinated by cutting-edge gadgets and, more recently, a new love interest that could cost him his career.
“Girls with Makarov”

The head of the UGRO, Pavel Makarov, comes into conflict with his superiors, as a result of which the employees of his department are replaced by four female police officers who really have no experience. New colleagues terribly enrage Makarov, from the very first days he dreams of getting rid of them. And the girls, in turn, are optimistic and want to prove to the boss that he writes them off early.
In the second season, the sitcom with Pavel Maikov gets a new storyline. A daring hacker Valeria Krapivina becomes Makarov’s colleague, and an affair begins between them. Later, she ends up in prison, but Makarov seeks a commutation of the sentence, and Krapivina is placed under house arrest. Now the couple lives together, and their relationship will have to pass the test of everyday life.
“Girls with Makarov”, the third season – from October 24 on TNT.
“The basic Instinct”

In San Francisco, rock star Johnny Boz is found murdered – the poor fellow was stabbed to death during sex with an ice pick. Among the suspects is Katherine, Boz’s girlfriend and outrageous novelist, whose book describes a similar crime. The investigation is entrusted to drug and alcohol addicted detective Nick. After a while, he falls under the spell of Catherine and strikes up a stormy romance with her. But can he get out of this relationship alive?
Basic Instinct is an iconic erotic thriller and one of Paul Verhoeven’s best films. The picture did not gain cult status right away – in the year of release, critics lamented because of the abundance of sex scenes and the iconic interrogation scene in which Katherine boldly spreads her legs in front of the police. But time put everything in its place, and today every second novice filmmaker will envy Verhoeven’s courage.
“The Decision to Leave”

South Korea. An unhappy married investigator takes on a new case – he has to find out the circumstances of the death of a rock climber who fell off the mountain. The deceased left a wife, but she is not too upset by the tragedy – after all, the late husband often used force against her. Moreover, in China, a woman faces a life sentence for murder, which forced her to leave the country. The protagonist begins to suspect the fugitive, but after a while, mutual sympathy arises between them.
“The Decision to Leave” is the triumphant comeback of Park Chan-wook, a modern classic of South Korean cinema, the author of “Oldboy” and “Joint Security Area”. This year, neo-noir was presented as part of the Cannes Film Festival, which ended with a pile of positive reviews for the film and a prize for directing.
“Sea of Love”

Residents of New York are horrified – a serial maniac is operating in the city. His victims are men – usually lonely, whom the murderer finds through dating ads. Drunken detective Frank is assigned to catch the killer. He begins to go on dates on ads, pretending to be a simple layman, and soon meets a woman who falls under suspicion. A little later, he finds her charming and falls in love.
In addition to the excellent work of Al Pacino, who played Frank, “Sea of Love” is notable for the fact that it works on several levels: for some it is an exciting detective story, for others it is a daring erotic thriller, and for someone it is a love story that can end fatally for both sides.
