Today a great success in the Netflix catalog, the movie “Rogue: The Assassin”, released in theaters in 2007, was blown up by one of its protagonists, the action icon Jet Li.
The phenomenon of action movies starring big names, not necessarily appearing in movies, starting to stand out on streaming platforms like Netflix, has become commonplace. Now it is the turn of the film “Rogue: The Assassin”, starring Jet Li and Jason Statham, which has come to occupy the 1st place in the Top 10 of Netflix audiences in Brazil and the rest of the world today.
The title debuted on the platform this Wednesday (2) – check out other releases of the week from Netflix here – and topped several Netflix original releases in audience preferences. However, with the success also comes the backstage of the film, which has been surrounded by controversy in its production. In particular, the discontent of the star Jet Li with the feature film.
Jet Li would have been very disappointed with the direction the production took, and expressed his displeasure already in the interviews in which he was supposed to promote the film. The actor also said the film was “terrible,” according to IMDb.
Additionally, the actor revealed in interviews at the time that he has no faith in the work of “Rogue: The Assassin” director Philip G. Atwell. The director made his debut at the helm of a feature film and, although he returned to work as an assistant on other films, he has not returned to direct a feature film.
To top it off, the actor also said that midway through the production process, he already knew the film was going to be a disappointment, both critically and at the box office. He wasn’t wrong. The film grossed approximately $ 40 million at the worldwide box office, with a 13% critical approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
The post Jet Li blew up his own movie, which is the most watched movie on Netflix today and first appeared on Olhar Digital.
