The first season of “House of the Dragon” ended at the end of October, leaving fans with no new episodes until at least 2024. Now, the most passionate ones return to Westeros analyzing every little detail and creating different theories.
Some theories make a lot of sense and there is a high possibility that they will happen in the future. However, others are so crazy that they border on the absurd, jumping to conclusions that seem to make no sense at all. However, theories are always fun. With that in mind, we bring you some of the craziest fan-created theories about the “House of the Dragon”, collected by collider.
Aemma killed?
In the most memorable scene of episode 1 of “The House of the Dragon”, Queen Aemma (Sian Brooke) dies in childbirth in which Prince Baelon, brother of Rhaenyra, who lived only a few hours, was born. There we witness a terrible scenario, in a world where it is normal for women to die in childbirth.
However, one theory suggests that Aemma’s death was far more gruesome than we know and is actually the result of a murder. Grandmaster Mellos (David Heroic) states that there is no way to save Aemma, but it is possible to save the baby. Eventually, both the mother and the baby end up dying.
But the theory points out that Master Mellos would not have told the truth, and would have caused the deaths of Aemma and Prince Baelon. The reason? Part of another great theory much discussed within this universe: the conspiracy theory of the masters. This theory states that the masters of the Citadel want to free Westeros from magic, and that the Targaryens represent carrying the magic of the dragons.
Therefore, the death of the queen and the prince would be part of the plans of the masters. Although Master Mellos had no way of knowing that these deaths would cause a succession war and many more deaths, leading the dragons to extinction. However, even without knowing what would happen next, the death of the crown prince and the king’s wife is a big step in making things more complicated for the Targaryens.
Aemond is the father of Helaena’s children
This theory involves the three eldest children of Alicent Hightower and Viserys I: Aegon (Tom Glynn-Carney), Helaena (Phia Saban) and Aemond (Ewan Mitchell). Although Aegon marries Helaena, a common habit among the Targaryens, who tend to marry between brothers to keep their lineage pure, the queen has a closer relationship with Aemond, her younger brother.
Helaena confirms her husband’s disinterest in her and Aemond appears to have an interest in her sister, which Aegon never had. Fans of the theory that Aemond is the real father of Helaena’s children find several small clues in the series, but nothing conclusive.
Although the theory is not impossible, we will hardly have a confirmation, unless the series says it in all letters. If Rhaenyra’s children are clearly not Laenor’s due to physical differences, any similar appearance of Helaena’s children with Aemond is justified, as the three are siblings. But if so, the fact that King Aegon’s sons are bastards would be quite ironic, given the parallels to Rhaenyra’s sons.
Jacaerys is the son of Criston Cole
Speaking of Rhaenyra’s children, although it is quite clear that the three eldest – Jacaerys, Lucerys and Joffrey – are not Laenor’s children, despite using the surname Velaryon, there is a theory that points to the firstborn, Jacaerys, not being the son. Harwin Strong bastard like the other two.
According to fan speculation, Rhaenyra becomes pregnant with Criston Cole (Fabien Frankel). The theory is strengthened because, despite the princess she receives moon tea, considered abortive in this universe, she at no time does she drink it on stage.
Hence, some argue that Rhaenyra’s eldest son, Jacaerys, would be the son of Ser Criston Cole. However, the theory has one major weakness: the passage of time. The series has a time jump of 10 years, but Jace appears between the ages of 7 and 8. This would make it impossible for the prince to be Cole’s son, after all, the relationship between Rhaenyra and Criston Cole ended almost immediately.
Larys has Green Sight and is a Warg.
Two crazy theories in one suggest that Larys Strong (Mathew Needham) has magical abilities. Larys is a master manipulator who does not hesitate to pull the strings of powerful people. But the question is: how does Larys know everything?
The theory suggests that Larys’ abilities are reminiscent of the three-eyed raven, who teaches Bran Stark (Isaac Hempstead Wright) how to use his powers years later. The three-eyed crow has been gathering information through its powers for generations and used it to manipulate the people around it. The theory goes that Larys could do something similar, using the dams to look around her.
In addition to the green sight, Bran Stark is a werewolf and can change bodies with his wolf and even some people. The theory suggests that Larys could accomplish the same thing and, instead of the wolves, she would use the mice from the Red Keep, which are consistently shown in the series’ scenes. However, there are other spies in this universe and it doesn’t take magical powers to uncover people’s secrets.
Rhaena uses a disguise to get a dragon
Daemon’s (Matt Smith) daughter, Rhaena (Phoebe Campbell), doesn’t own a dragon and desperately wants one for herself. But if the series follows the events of Fire and Blood, she won’t.
However, the series is under no obligation to follow the book and some fans suggest that she could dress up as a mysterious character to become the rider of a wild dragon, Stealth. The mysterious character is Nettles, a young woman who appears during the Seed period, when the Blacks try to increase their warrior forces by encouraging people to try to tame dragons without knights.
Daemon and Nettles have a close relationship in the book, and there are even rumors that they would be lovers, but one of the possibilities raised in the story is that she would be his bastard daughter. Nettles is distinguished by the appearance of her that does not resemble Valyrian traits, something that is considered in the universe to be fundamental for someone to be able to tame a dragon.
Could this be explained by the disguise, just why should Rhaena dress up in the first place? Why would anyone try to stop the young woman from conquering a dragon for herself? No one would stop Rhaena from being a dragon rider and fighting as her sister Baela (Bethany Antonia), her grandmother, Rhaenys (Eve Best), or even her mother, Laena.
This weakens the theory, but it is still possible that the change will be made and it will be Rhaena who will conquer the fearsome wild dragon, eliminating the existence of Nettles from the series, after all “House of the Dragon” has already shown that it has no problem changing. the original story.
Alicent becomes Melisandre
The quest to link “House of the Dragon” with “Game of Thrones” implies the possibility of Melisandre (Carice van Houten) appearing in the series, after all we discover in the main story that she is a witch who has lived for hundreds of years.
But what’s not so imaginable is the theory that Alicent Hightower (Olivia Cooke) will eventually transform into Melisandre. Some fans theorize that Alicent will eventually understand the true meaning of Viserys’ last words and this will guide her. Melisandre is a good part of “Game of Thrones” believing that Stanis Baratheon was “the prince who was promised”.
The theory is highly unlikely and the fact that Melisandre is alive doesn’t mean she will appear in the series or play a major role. Also, while Alicent is from Oldtown, Melisandre is from Asshai and the queen is faithful to the Faith of the Seven, while Melisandre follows the Lord of Light. Aside from the color of their hair, the two have nothing in common, and this theory is too crazy even for a fantasy series.
Daemon is the King of the Night
Did someone say a crazy theory? Here we have another one. This suggests that Daemon Targaryen is the Lord of the Night. It is based on four things: the first is that the Night King is immune to fire, a trait that not all Targaryens have, but some do, like Daenerys (Emilia Clarke). The second is that the Night King rides a dragon, while the third suggests that Daemon’s clothing is similar to that of the magical being from “Game of Thrones”. Finally, in “Fire and Blood” Daemon’s body is never recovered.
This seems to be yet another theory in which “House of the Dragon” fans try to link the production to the original series. The Wall was built many years ago in response to the White Walkers, and the creation of the Night King appears in “Game of Thrones”, so he certainly won’t turn into the character.
Laenor will return as Addam of Hull
We have already mentioned this theory elsewhere in the . In it, Laenor Velaryon would return in the second season as another character, Addam of Hull. She would assume the identity of a bastard who manages to connect with her own dragon, Fumaresia. Addam claims in the book that he is the bastard son of Laenor, but many believe that he is the son of Corlys Velaryon.
