The “The Last of Us” actor teases praise for HBO’s future adaptation

One of the most awarded games in history, “The Last of Us” is surrounded by expectations regarding the adaptation that will be released by HBO next year. And before that, Murray Bartlett, one of the actors in the cast, tried to raise this hype even more by praising the script written for the series.

Bartlett was interviewed by the website collider and commented on his participation in the adaptation of “The Last of Us”. According to the actor, the script for the series was very well developed, which makes him believe in the success of the HBO production.

“One script in particular is one of the best hours of television I’ve ever read. It’s beautiful. It is beautifully written. There are these zombie creatures in it, but it’s cuddly and humane. I think it will be very special. I haven’t seen any of this yet, but I’m really proud of the work we’ve done and I think it could be really, really wonderful. It will be truly wonderful, ”Bartlett said.

Winner of the 2022 Emmy Award for Best Supporting Actor in a Miniseries, Bartlett will play Frank in “The Last of Us”. In the game, the character is only mentioned as a partner of Bill who would kill himself after being infected with the fungus that affects the world in this storyline. With this, the adaptation should detail this relationship that was not illustratively present in the game.

This problem was also commented by Bartlett in the interview: “They adapted all these elements very well for this series. They are an incredible team. Part of the team created “Chernobyl”, another great piece of TV. We have a fantastic cast. They put a lot of love and resources behind it. I think it’s going to be a great show, “she said.

“Chernobyl”, quoted by Bartlett, was co-created by director Craig Mazin, who will participate as co-writer and executive producer of “The Last of Us”. Mazin will be alongside Neil Druckmann, creator of the franchise, and has also previously commented on this process of adapting the game.

“In this case, I’m doing it with Druckmann and the changes we’re making are designed to fill and expand things, not to undo, but to improve,” Mazin said in an interview with BBC a few months ago.

“The Last of Us” will be officially released from HBO on January 15, 2023, with Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey in the roles of protagonists Joel and Ellie, respectively. The adaptation will also have names like Gabriel Luna, Anna Torv and Merle Dandridge.

In the plot, 20 years after the emergence of a fungus that destroyed modern civilization, survivor Joel is hired to sneak a 14-year-old girl named Ellie out of a quarantine zone. On their journey into a post-apocalyptic world, they will depend on each other to survive.
