“Glee” co-creator and producer Ryan Murphy was interviewed on the “And That’s What You Really Missed” podcast, hosted by teen series cast members Kevin McHale and Jenna Ushkowitz. In the chat, Murphy shared some of his thoughts on the Fox production.
Completed in 2015, “Glee” ran for six seasons and 121 episodes in total. Despite that, Murphy revealed in the interview that he would be open to conversations about a possible return to the series, whether in a reboot or otherwise.
“I’m at a stage where I think there has been enough time,” Murphy said. “Maybe we should really re-examine ‘Glee’ as a brand. You know, should we do a reboot? Or a Broadway musical in some way? “
The producer also commented: “It’s like an interesting legacy that I’m interested in revisiting in a positive way after a hiatus for a while. But I still don’t know. I love what the show says and what it did. There will never be another “Glee” in my life or anything like that in terms of feeling this close to it, “he said.
On the other hand, Murphy also added that “Glee” was not supposed to continue after the fourth season in 2013, during which actor Cory Monteith, who played Finn Hudson in the series, died. According to the creator, if he were now in the same position, he would have been in favor of shutting down production.

“If I were to do it again, we would have stopped for a long time and probably wouldn’t be back,” the producer revealed. “Because you can’t really recover from such a thing. It was not a normal death where someone is sick. It happened so quickly, without any warning ”.
During and after airing between 2009 and 2015, “Glee” was embroiled in various media controversies, from allegations of racism between actors, arrests and child pornography cases. Recently, Discovery + announced that it will release a documentary about the series’ many controversies, but did not reveal a preview date.
