Little is known about the upcoming HBO Max series “The Penguin,” which will focus on Colin Farrell’s Penguin, a villain introduced in the film “Batman,” starring Robert Pattinson. However, it has now been revealed that production will bridge the gap between the first film, which was released in March of this year, and the yet to come sequel.
The future HBO Max series will take place between “Batman” and the sequel, which is still in development. In conversations with VarietySarah Aubrey, Head of HBO Max Originals, explained how the Colin Farrell-led spinoff about crime boss Oswald Cobblepot will fit into creator Matt Reeves’ franchise.
“’The Penguin’ will be right after the end of ‘Batman’ and temporarily before the events of the second film. The series will launch between the two films,” Aubrey explained. The executive went on to say that while he thinks it is good for audiences to know that the spinoff “will be a bridge between [Batman e sua sequência]”, can not reveal more details about the release date.
Aubrey provided a few more details on “The Penguin,” noting that the intention of the series is to show how far Cobblepot will go to reclaim Gotham City. “It’s a great example of taking the time in eight episodes to tell a longer arc character story with lots of delightful twists and new characters,” Aubrey explained. She goes on to describe the spin-off as a “very specific experience” for audiences.
The Penguin series still doesn’t have a release date revealed, as does the movie “Batman,” which is available on HBO Max.
