We review what we know about La Contessa Valentina Allegra de la Fontaine, the character of Julia Louis-Dreyfus that will play in Phase 5 of Marvel.
we explain everything we know about La Contessa Valentina Allegra de la Fontaine the character of Julia Louis-Dreyfus in Marvel that right now we can see on the big screen in ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’.
And it is that, if Marvel is already thinking about ‘Black Panther 3’, we have to prepare all the clues we have to prepare for Phase 5 where, it seems, La Contessa will have an important role.
The Contessa in the comics
Created by Jim Steranko in 1967, this Italian schemer introduces herself as Valentina Allegra de la Fontaine, countess member of European high society. Desperate for the murder of her parents, SHIELD contacted her and has since become one of her top agents.
Although her identity has been impersonated on occasion by a Skrull to sow chaos, the coldness with which the Contessa carries out her work has not been her main source of animosity with characters from all sides and depths.
Julia Louis-Dreyfus comes to Marvel
Julia Louis-Dreyfus is a legend of American television series. Winner of 11 Emmy Awards thanks to her Elaine Benes in ‘Seinfeld’ and her Selina Meyer in ‘Veep’, she has lavished less on the big screen, although we have been able to see her in titles like ‘Disassembling Harry’ (Woody Allen, 1997 ) and ‘Words are superfluous’ (Nicole Holofcener, 2013).
In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the Contessa premiered on Disney+, in the fifth episode of ‘Falcon and the Winter Soldier’, recruiting John Walker, the violent US Agent played by Wyatt Russell.
After that we saw her for the first time on the big screen, but not until the post-credit scene of ‘Black Widow’ (Cate Shortland, 2021), this time cajoling Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh) while mourning the death of his sister.
Now he returns in ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’, making clear his high position in SHIELD and revealing to us, beware, a past in common with good old Everett K. Ross (Martin Freeman).
Valentina in Phase 5
Although it’s all speculation, as we know that ‘The Thunderbolts’ could be in the UCM, the clues make us think that the Contessa is assembling her own team. And she is not doing badly.
US Agent and Yelena are already part of the squad that we will see in the ‘Thunderbolts’ movie, Marvel’s group of redeemed villains in which we will also see Red Guardian (played by David Harbor in ‘Black Widow’), Taskmaster (Olga Kurylenko in ‘Black Widow’), Ghost (Hannah John-Kamen in ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp’) and the never-forgotten Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan).
Jake Schreier will be in charge of bringing all this to the movies in 2024 but, by then, the premieres of ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania’, ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3’, ‘The Marvels’, ‘Blade’ and up to 6 seasons of series will have given us new information about the future of the characters.
