Actor Kevin Spacey has made a comeback around the world as seven new sex offender charges are brought against him in the UK.
The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS), the main public body for carrying out prosecutions in England and Wales, has cleared the charges against the actor, which come on top of five other moves against him in June this year.
“CPS has cleared additional criminal charges against Kevin Spacey, 63, for multiple sexual assaults against a male between 2001 and 2004,” Rosemary Ainslie said (via Deadline), head of the Special Criminal Division of the CPS this Wednesday (16).
“The CPS also authorized the charge of inducing a person to engage in sexual activity without consent. The authority to prosecute follows a review of evidence gathered by the Metropolitan Police in its investigation,” Ainslie continued. “The Crown Prosecution Service is reminding all concerned that criminal cases against Mr Spacey are active and that he is entitled to a trial fair.
In July, Spacey entered a not guilty plea to the original five charges, which relate to three men who are now in their 30s and 40s and allegedly occurred between 2005 and 2013. He will be tried in June 2023.
These new charges come after Kevin Spacey, a two-time Academy Award-winning actor best known for the film ‘American Beauty’ and the Netflix series ‘House of Cards,’ pleaded not guilty in the high-profile sexual misconduct lawsuit based on allegations also for his part, the actor Anthony Rapp.
In August of this year, Spacey was ordered to pay $31 million to the ‘House of Cards’ production company over allegations of sexual misconduct behind the scenes on the series.
