A short starring Grogu is the fruit of this collaboration.
Disney+ has launched one of the collaborations of the year: ‘Grogu and the Soots’.
This short film celebrates the third anniversary of ‘The Mandalorian’the ‘Star Wars’ spin-off series, and features Grogu (aka Baby Yoda) in the hand-drawn animation style of the Japanese masters of Studio Ghibli with Hayao Miyazaki and his best films always in the lead.
The soot in the title comes directly from ‘Spirited Away’ and ‘My Neighbor Totoro’two of the best Studio Ghibli movies.
Katsuya Kondowho worked on Ghibli’s ‘Ponyo on the Cliff’ and ‘Howl’s Moving Castle’, is the director behind this animated shortwhile music composer Ludwig Göransson returns in this way to the world of ‘The Mandalorians’.
Before the third season of ‘The Mandalorian’ premieres next February (and which will mark Christopher Lloyd’s debut in ‘Star Wars’), the creator Jon Favreau confirmed in may that the fourth season It was already in the writing phase.
“With television, we are lucky that we don’t have to rush to tell things in an hour and a half or two hours,” he told Cinema Blend. “We can tell the stories slowly.”
“So now, as Dave Filoni is doing ‘Ahsoka,’ it’s very much feeding into the writing I’m doing for ‘The Mandalorian’ season 4. It becomes, how to say, more precise.”
Favreau, who effectively gave birth to the MCU as we know it by directing “Iron Man,” Marvel’s first Phase 1 movie, went on to suggest that plans are afoot regarding the ending of “The Mandalorian” as well.
“It’s interesting how things evolve and change in small ways, but we all know where it’s all going to end because the time period ends. Within that, we also know the story lines that are going to play out within the characters we’re dealing with. inheriting or developing,” he explained to Collider.
“So I would say there’s a lot of preparation done in broad strokes for how these storylines that we’ve established culminate, but we’re doing it within the confines and parameters of what’s pre-existing in canon.”
