“I will never forget what we have learned shooting this project.”
‘Mare of Easttown’ star Kate Winslet is set to return to television for a Channel 4 drama ‘I Am Ruth’ – and the first image of the project has already surfaced.
Winslet stars in the series with her daughter, Mia Threapleton (from her relationship with ex-husband Jim Threapleton), and the photo below gives us a first look at the two actresses playing their characters.
Winslet plays Ruth, the mother of Freya (Threapleton) who is dealing with a problem that is sadly very much the order of the day. Ruth begins to worry about her daughter as she realizes that her moods and behaviors worsen as a result of spending too much time on social media.
“I can say with my hand on my heart that I will never forget what we have learned while doing this project,Winslet said in a statement, praising creator Dominic Savage.
“The low-key, natural way we’ve put together this series is the way I aspire to work all the time. Often these creative environments can be large and overwhelming, but Part of Dominic’s directing process was to keep everything to a minimum and focus on the actors and the world we’re creating with them, thanks to their incredible support,” he kept saying.
“It was a privilege and an inspiration to work with Dominic Savage. He is simply extraordinary.added the actress.
‘I am Ruth’ is part of Channel 4’s ‘I Am’ group of series, which tell deep stories about real life issues. Some previous episodes have been ‘I Am Kristy’, starring Samantha Morton (‘The Walking Dead’), or ‘I Am Hannah’ with Gemma Chan (‘Humans’).
The announcement that Winslet would be part of the series came after having made all the headlines in the press, due to his incident on the set of the movie ‘Lee’. The ‘Titanic’ star returned to filming in September after confirming for Deadline that it was just a “minor” issue.
“Kate slipped and was taken to the hospital as a preventative measure (production decision). He is fine and will shoot again, as planned, this week,” shared his representative.
‘I Am Ruth’ will be broadcast on Channel 4. Its distribution in Spain is still unknown.
